If you are not familiar with Florida based Producer Andre Acila, now is a great time to get acquainted! Andre Acila began composing electronic music at the age of 11, but rose to prominence via the release of “Virya” in 2020 among a plethora of House singles with fellow DJ and Producer Adrian Jacobs. It was after witnessing a pool party in 2021, Andre Acila began experimenting with the harmonious mixture of cinematic orchestration, classic Tech House grooves as well as bass lines, and progressive melodies. Six signed tracks, a Beatport Top 100 hit, and over a million views on Youtube later, Andre Acila has a newly self released EP titled ACE.
Now, what will blow your mind about this EP is the fact these tracks were all composed with a copy of FL Studio 20, on Andre Acila’s MacBook Air, in a residential environment! As if that were not impressive enough, it was through the collaborative efforts of Andre Acila, Ryan Riojas and Natalie Suarez, that productions were recorded in a self-fabricated vocal booth for this latest release. If that is not reminiscent of Billie Eilish when her a brother Finneas began out of their parents’ home, we do not know what is?!? It goes to show that one does not need a major label studio with all the bells and whistles to make good music. That is NOT to say ALL music is GOOD music, but that it CAN be done with the right motivation, enough drive, a great support system and a little enthusiasm.
Taking a page out of the fellow inspirational Producer Martin Garrix book, Andre Acila used the first letter in each track to create the title of the EP. ACE is jam packed with the progressive melodic elements, cinematic orchestration and intonation reminiscent of Techno that Andre Acila grew to love and sought to emulate through carefully crafted composition.
‘Ashes’ is a Progressive House banger, sharing the relatable story of struggling with self doubt.
‘Control’ is an experimental sonic journey examining our duty to take back control from anxieties.
‘Elevate’ tells the story of obtaining higher consciousness by utilizing cyberpunk elements w/ a futuristic flare.
Anyone who has experience in the early days of electronic music knows, this genre began as a way to embrace differences. It was a beacon to those who experienced anguish and grief at the hands of secular society. The pulsating beats could be found late nights in the warehouse district streets. The underground masses were fed a steady diet of Soul, Funk, Disco, and it was the geeks and freaks that made the music fresh. Andre Acila does just that with the release of ACE. Andre Acila takes the listener back to a time when velvet ropes did not exist and hot bodies on the dance floor keeping in time with a 4/4 were all that matter when stepping in the door.
