Anjunachill has unveiled its inaugural compilation, ‘Anjunachill 01 (Mixed by Above & Beyond)’, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the label’s storied history. This release, which includes a six-track limited-run vinyl sampler, continues the Anjuna family’s deep-rooted connection to the chillout genre, which has evolved over decades.

A Legacy in Chillout Music

The journey of Anjunachill took a pivotal turn in 2014, when Above & Beyond performed a spontaneous sunset yoga set on the Robot Heart stage at Burning Man. This transformative moment inspired the creation of their yoga and meditation album, ‘Flow State,’ which became a cornerstone of their ambient explorations.

Building on the success of ‘Flow State,’ Anjunadeep introduced ‘Reflections Vol. 1’ in 2020, laying the foundation for a dedicated chillout imprint. In May 2022, this vision fully materialized with the launch of Reflections, which provided a standalone space for ambient and downtempo releases. Now, in 2025, the label has been rebranded as Anjunachill, reaffirming its commitment to chillout, neoclassical, and cinematic electronic music.

‘Anjunachill 01’—A Defining Moment for the Label

For over two decades, the Anjunabeats Volume and Anjunadeep mix compilations have defined the sound of their respective labels, becoming cherished traditions within the global electronic community. Now, Above & Beyond bring their signature curation to the chillout space with ‘Anjunachill 01’, the first official mix under the label’s new identity.

The compilation opens with Above & Beyond’s latest ambient track, ‘Shall We Begin,’ released in January 2025 to mark the label relaunch and celebrate 25 years of Anjuna. The mix also features an array of beloved Anjuna artists, including:

  • Jody Wisternoff & James Grant
  • Dusky
  • Leaving Laurel
  • Yotto
  • Croquet Club

Additionally, ‘Anjunachill 01’ showcases recent standout releases from the label, such as Cephas Azariah’s ‘Joy Paradox’ and an exclusive remix from renowned neoclassical composer Peter Sandberg, reimagining a track from Mark Barrott’s album ‘Everything Changes, Nothing Ends’.

Introducing a New Wave of Chillout Artists

While honoring its past, ‘Anjunachill 01’ also introduces unreleased music from emerging artists, signaling the next era of the label’s sonic evolution. Highlights include:

  • Planet of Souls – A downtempo alias of Paul Rogers (noted for his work with N.E.R.D., Gorillaz, and Pete Tong) and sound designer Tom Barlow
  • PROFF – A longtime Anjunabeats favorite
  • Redkat – The new alias of Riccardo Derio (of Alex Sonata & The Rio)
  • Ad Harmonium – A South African composer duo, featuring one half of Archaellum and felthabit

By combining timeless classics with cutting-edge new sounds, ‘Anjunachill 01’ serves as both a celebration of Anjuna’s chillout heritage and a visionary look ahead to the future of the genre.
