Welcome back to Fresh Music Freak’s Man Crush Monday! This week’s feature is dear to me. A-Trak has had a special place on my playlists, and in my heart, since I first saw him perform an intimate set on Holy Ship! in 2018. This guy truly knows how to reel in the crowd and get each individual ready to party. Alain Macklovitch is originally from Canada and everything more than just a DJ. Over his almost three-decade career, A-Trak has truly set out to be one of Electronic Dance Music’s most valuable players.
After calling Brooklyn home for several years, he now resides in Los Angeles. However, Macklovitch still keeps deep roots in New York as his label, Fool’s Gold Records is based out of Brooklyn. Fool’s Gold Records was founded back in 2007 and is known to boost the careers of such artists like Kid Cudi, and Flosstradmus. Back in 2004, Kanye West recruited A-Trak as his personal DJ. Since then the two have worked closely together.
A-Trak has a large list of big-name collaborations. One of my personal favorites was seeing him and Yehme2 perform on stage at Escape Halloween: Psycho Circus in 2018. These two killed the stage and it was by far my favorite set. It is rare for me to stay from beginning to end for an entire set but I refused to leave. Not only did this dynamic duo rock it, but they were also dressed from head to toe in Hot Topic 90’s raver gear. It was the icing on the cake of amazing.
When I saw that A-Trak was scheduled to perform at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas for the famed EDC Week, I kid you not, I dropped to the floor with excitement. I do not care how much the actual EDC Las Vegas 2019 festival wears me out, I am committed to making it to this pool party. I highly suggest you do the same! I am hoping I am lucky enough to meet him again like I was when he stopped by AcademyLA in Hollywood this past February!
