If there’s one artist out there that you should be paying attention to right now, it’s Luke Bond. The British DJ and producer is making big moves in the electronic music scene and is showing no signs of slowing down.
With earlier successes in tracks like ‘On Fire’ to recent cheeky bangers that have made waves in the scene like ‘U’, this man knows what he’s doing in the studio. Luke Bond has also strut his stuff at shows and festivals around the world like Electric Zoo, God’s Kitchen, the Hollywood Palladium, Groove Cruise and most recently, ASOT 900 in Utrecht.
When we caught wind that Luke Bond was whipping up a collab with Armin Van Buuren, we had to have a few words with Luke. We got all the answers to the questions you might have had. Hopefully this interview will help ease the suspense we all have upon waiting for this sure-fire banger of a record.
FMF: Your new track with Armin van Buuren has been highly anticipated by fans around the world. What was it like working with Mr. ASOT himself on this track?
Luke Bond: Really fun. It started out as a rough idea I had for a track and asked Armin if he was interested in doing it as a collab to which he was onboard right away. We worked remotely on it by sending the project file back and forth to each other adding and changing parts as we went. It was a really smooth and natural process.
Speaking of creating new tunes. When you get into the studio, where does your mind go and how do you get ideas for new music?
I enjoy and love listening to lots of different genres of music; ranging from drum ‘n’ bass to film score music. I get lots of inspiration from those. I also love soundtracks in video games.
You spend tons of time in the studio working on your amazing productions. What do you like to do when you’re not in the studio?
I’m a super social person outside of the studio so I like to travel and spend time with my friends, workout and of course game!
Every trance producer seems to have a different perspective of the genre and what it means to them. What does trance mean to you?
This is very true, it’s become very broad and diverse (which is a good thing!). Even though my roots are in trance and I’m influenced by it, I wouldn’t call myself purely a trance artist as my music is very diverse. But, if I was to give a meaning for trance it would be the more emotional side of dance music.
Over the years, you’ve performed at shows and festivals near and far. What has been your favorite city to perform so far and what city is on your bucket list of places you want to perform?
That’s tough to narrow it down to a specific city, but I really do enjoy playing in the US as I have lots of friends over there and the crowds are really open-minded.
2019 has already been a huge year for you having performed at ASOT 900 in Utrecht. Where else can we catch a set by you this year?
I’ve just announced I’ll be joining Armin Van Buuren in Ibiza at Hï Ibiza this summer which I’m really looking forward to. I’ve just taken on a new team so we’re working on more tour dates as we speak!
This year has also proved to be a big one with your recent releases. What else can we expect from you this year, musically?
A lot of variety! I’m super excited for the collab with Armin coming later this month and I’m really excited for a new vocal single I have coming in July. I’ve also just finished up another new vocal single which is a totally different style to what I’ve made before, which will be coming later this year so watch this space!
Thank you Luke! We can’t wait for this collaboration to take the airwaves by storm!
