Los Angeles-based producer A Hundred Drums has teamed up with Denver artist N3PTUNE for Gorgeous Tragedy, a shape-shifting bass cut out February 13th via Bassrush Records. The collaboration fuses percussive weight with raw vocal conviction, framing struggle as a path to evolution rather than defeat.

Built around the idea of triumph through tribulation, the track unfolds like a character arc in motion. N3PTUNE’s gravelly topline anchors the record’s emotional core, cutting through cavernous brass-laced neuro drum & bass grooves before melting into deep dubstep and snarling halftime breaks. Each transition mirrors descent, confrontation, and recalibration, crafting a journey of resilience and self-discovery.

Gorgeous Tragedy is about taking a chance and trying something new,” says A Hundred Drums. “After hitting rock bottom, it’s about finding our way back to the top. Working with N3PTUNE truly brought the record to life, shaping the emotion and intention behind it.” N3PTUNE adds: “The song speaks to finding beauty in times of devastation, with lyrics like, ‘I know how to dress my pain.’ It’s a journey of facing yourself at your lowest and making the best of the circumstances.”

For A Hundred Drums, the single extends her genre-fluid approach to bass music. A percussionist and multi-instrumentalist, she channels the primal pulse of oral tradition into tracks influenced by dubstep, reggae, psy, ambient, and downtempo. Her sound design on Gorgeous Tragedy balances reflection and intensity, a craft honed through collaborations with CloZee, Coki, and Dirtwire, as well as remixes for Subtronics, Apashe, Jon Casey, and Whipped Cream. Her 2025 output included solo singles Sensation, Savannah Sky, Fallin’, and the three-track Fearless EP, each showcasing intricate sound design and relentless energy.

N3PTUNE, a multidimensional artist rooted in gospel, blues, soul, and rock, was named Best Breakout Musician of 2023 by Westword Magazine. He has performed at Red Rocks, Electric Forest, Northern Nights, and Capitol Hill Block Party, blending music, fashion, and performance art into a singular expression while exploring themes of identity, collapse, and rebirth.

With Gorgeous Tragedy, A Hundred Drums and N3PTUNE deliver a track that transforms chaos into clarity. Already a staple in live sets since 2023, the single exemplifies resilience and evolution, proving that growth often emerges from the darkest moments.

Gorgeous Tragedy is available now on all platforms via Bassrush Records.
