Stranger Than; Debuts ‘The SUPERMRKT’: A New Hub for Dance Music in Los Angeles

by Press Release

Los Angeles’ premier event collective, Stranger Than;, has officially announced their debut season at their newly converted venue, ‘The SUPERMRKT’, set to redefine the city’s dance music scene. The venue, a former grocery store repurposed into a state-of-the-art event space, will host a variety of eclectic shows from September to November, with capacities ranging from 1,200 to over 3,200 attendees.

Stranger Than; is celebrated for its unique approach to hosting electronic music events in unconventional locations across Los Angeles. With the launch of ‘The SUPERMRKT’, this innovative programming now has a permanent home. The expansive space, once a bustling grocery store, features stunning architectural elements, including a high, arching wooden ceiling with strategically placed skylights that create an ambiance of grandeur and openness. Color-paneled windows contrast beautifully with rustic wooden elements, adding to the venue’s unique charm.

The space was successfully soft-launched in May with a marathon 14-hour show featuring Gordo, which drew 3,000 attendees from 6 am to 8 pm. Stranger Than; plans to continue hosting these extended-hour events, leveraging ‘The SUPERMRKT’s’ natural lighting to create a one-of-a-kind atmosphere that caters to both early risers and night owls.

Among the already announced shows at ‘The SUPERMRKT’ is Nico Moreno on November 15th, which sold out within minutes. The full event calendar will be revealed in the coming weeks, featuring performances by icons such as Moodymann, Carl Craig, Mita Gami, Adam Ten, Floating Points, Orbital, Luciano, and collaborations with renowned brands like Mayan Warrior, Pizzaslime, and Boiler Room.

‘The SUPERMRKT’ exemplifies Stranger Than;’s reputation for producing events in never-before-used locales. Under the leadership of founder Tal Ohana, the collective has previously debuted numerous urban venues across Los Angeles, including Grand Park, El Pueblo, Ace Mission Studios, Petersen Automotive Museum, and Cabrillo Beach. Their expert musical curation and innovative production have positioned Stranger Than; as the premier partner for global institutions such as CircoLoco, Mayan Warrior, and Boiler Room.
