Today, Grammy-winning live electronic trio RÜFÜS DU SOL have shared their ethereal new single, “Lately,” via Rose Avenue/Warner Records. Following their latest single “Music is Better,” “Lately” marks the band’s first new music since their 2021 Grammy-nominated album, Surrender. This track showcases RÜFÜS’ indie inclinations, blending club rhythms, intricate sound design, and heartfelt songwriting that resonates with fans during their most pivotal life moments.
The lyrics of “Lately” delve into themes of interpersonal devotion and self-discovery, relatable to anyone who has experienced love’s highs and lows. Tyrone Lindqvist from the band expresses admiration in the track, singing, “It feels like I’m learning how to love again.” “Lately” captures the warm yet artful dynamics that have distinguished the band as innovators for over a decade.
The release is accompanied by an official music video, filmed in black and white and directed by Alex George, illustrating the band’s artistry and sophisticated vision.
“Lately” reflects the band’s new creative groove, characterized by enjoying the process and creating from the now while blending organic and electronic elements.
To celebrate the new single, band members Jon George and James Hunt performed a unique ‘in the round’ DJ set at The Cause in London on August 1, joined by Jimi Jules, which sold out instantly.
In the three years since Surrender was released, RÜFÜS DU SOL won a Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Recording in 2022 for lead single “Alive,” received two Grammy nominations the following year for Best Dance/Electronic Album, and earned their fifth ARIA award in Australia. The band toured globally, appearing at festivals across Europe and South America, and brought Surrender to iconic North American venues like New York’s Forest Hills Stadium, Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl. They also launched their boutique Sundream Festival, holding its second edition in San José del Cabo in 2023. The group debuted the new Quasar Stage at Coachella in 2024, showcasing unheard IDs and previewing future releases.
“Lately” arrives ahead of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s only live show this year, headlining Portola Festival in San Francisco on September 28.
