London-based multidisciplinary artist Giora prepares to release their new six-track EP FREEWAY on May 1 via their independent label Holypop, offering a deeply personal and sonically adventurous project led by the evocative focus track “LONG LIVE MUSIC.”

Described by Numéro Netherlands as a creator of “gothic love songs about power, control, and the pleasure of being consumed,” Giora continues to push the boundaries of experimental pop with a sound that fuses distorted textures, intricate rhythms, and delicate synth work. Publications including NOTION Magazine, CLASH Magazine, and Wonderland Magazine have all highlighted Giora’s ability to reshape genre conventions, blending avant-garde sensibilities with emotionally charged songwriting.

With FREEWAY, Giora leans fully into themes of existentialism, liberation, and personal truth. The project moves fluidly across a spectrum of experimental pop, drawing comparisons to artists like Depeche Mode, SOPHIE, and Charli XCX, while maintaining a distinct and uncompromising artistic voice. Produced and mixed by Giora alongside Czech producer Oliver Torr, and mastered by composer Zac Tiessen, the EP captures a refined yet exploratory sonic identity.

Opening with its title track, FREEWAY sets the tone through syncopated drums, psychedelic synths, and a driving bassline that establishes a playful yet assertive energy. “EARTHQUAKE” follows with a surge of emotional intensity, pairing rave-inspired production with a message of self-acceptance. On “POWER CANDY,” Giora strips back the armor, delivering a vulnerable performance underscored by brooding guitar motifs and a breakbeat-driven chorus.

“GOD’S GIFT” reveals a more minimal, introspective side of Giora’s artistry, allowing their vocal presence to take center stage, while “LONG LIVE MUSIC” stands as the EP’s defining moment. Anchored in 80s-inspired synth-pop textures and commanding rhythms, the track reflects Giora’s journey toward creative and personal freedom. Closing track “IN THE END” delivers a high-impact finale, blending trance, breaks, and experimental electronica into a defiant statement on identity beyond the binary.

Reflecting on the project, Giora shares:
“This EP is a statement piece about freedom, truth, and love. The freeway is a promise of openness, travel, connection. It is an expression of human nature. Freedom is yours to build not at the expense of anyone or anything else. The free way is acceptance, transformation, and the ability to be exactly as you please… staying real and holding your own power and doing it with love.”

Giora’s artistic foundation traces back to their upbringing in North London, where they studied classical piano, voice, and music theory before evolving into songwriting and performance. A period spent in New York saw them study orchestral composition at Juilliard, an experience that helped shape their transition into electronic production and ultimately led to their debut EP Safe In The Dark in 2020.

Since then, Giora has built a reputation for immersive live performances and conceptual artistry, sharing stages with Isabella Lovestory, Varg, Babynymph, Elisabeth Elektra, Puce Mary, Kelora, and Felix Lee. Their presence has extended across key underground and experimental spaces, including CREEPY TEEPEE Festival, KWIA in Berlin, and Bike Jesus in Prague, alongside London venues such as Gossamer Fog, Spanners, The Divine, and The Glory.

Beyond music, Giora continues to cultivate a broader creative ecosystem through Holypop, both as a label and live event platform spotlighting queer experimental artists across the UK and Europe. Their work has also expanded into sound installations exhibited at Rich Mix and Stanley Arts, reinforcing a multidisciplinary approach that blurs the line between sound, space, and identity.

With FREEWAY, Giora delivers their most honest and fully realized work to date—an emotionally charged, sonically daring project that reaffirms their place at the forefront of experimental pop’s next wave.
