Ardalan links up with Senegalese-American artist Marieme for “I AM,” the seventh release from Dirtybird’s Flight Week writing camp series, out now.
Driven by a propulsive groove, “I AM” lands as a striking, vocal-led club record. Ardalan builds the track around tribal-inspired drum patterns and tightly clipped percussion, creating a rhythmic backbone that feels both urgent and fluid. At the forefront, Marieme delivers a sharp, self-assured topline, her commanding vocal cutting cleanly through the mix and giving the record its confident, femme-forward edge.
The collaboration was born during Dirtybird’s Flight Week writing camp, a fast-paced creative environment designed to bring together artists from across the label’s extended community. That spontaneous, high-energy setting is embedded in the DNA of “I AM,” capturing the kind of unfiltered creativity the series has become known for.
A longtime fixture within the Dirtybird ecosystem, Ardalan has been part of the crew since its early days—evolving from a BBQ regular to a defining artist on the label. His catalog includes standout releases like “Mr. Spock” with Justin Martin, as well as projects like Thunderdad and Escapade alongside Walker & Royce. His 2019 debut album Mr. Good further cemented his place within the label’s core roster, while recent appearances at Dirtybird Campout x Northern Nights Music Festival and releases like “Drip (Sweat)” highlight his continued evolution. “I AM” follows his previous Flight Week contribution “Spiraling” with SHADED, Black V Neck, and Life On Planets.
For Marieme, the release marks another step forward in her growing presence within electronic music. Known for her bold vocal delivery, she has previously collaborated with Bedouin and Spencer Brown, making her a natural fit for the Flight Week sessions. “I AM” also serves as her second contribution to the series, following “Stuck To The Floor” with n808.
With “I AM” now out across all platforms, Ardalan and Marieme deliver a release that captures the raw, collaborative spirit of Flight Week while pushing forward a bold, rhythm-driven sound built for the dancefloor.
