Jump Source Unveil “Empty Bars” and “Close” Ahead of Debut Album Fold

Montréal duo Jump Source—comprised of Patrick Holland and priori—return with a striking double single, “Empty Bars” featuring billy woods and “Close” featuring POiSON GiRL FRiEND. Both tracks offer a deeper look into their forthcoming debut album Fold, arriving April 30 via NAFF Recordings.

The new releases highlight the duo’s expansive creative reach. “Empty Bars” pairs a low-slung, distortion-laced house framework with billy woods’ sharp, introspective delivery, while “Close” leans into a more melancholic tone, elevated by the delicate, time-suspending vocal presence of POiSON GiRL FRiEND. Together, the tracks reflect the duality at the core of Fold—balancing club functionality with emotional depth.

Expanding on the project, Jump Source share: “Our new album Fold continues to reveal itself with two dream collaborations. ‘Empty Bars’ finds billy woods delivering a razor-sharp recollection of a night out… On the flip, POiSON GiRL FRiEND lifts the melancholic production of ‘Close’ with her distilled vocal, wrapping up the record in a way that feels suspended in time.”

Set to include previously released cuts “Shattered” featuring Helena Deland and Ross Meen, along with “Affect” featuring Loukeman, Fold stands as the duo’s most ambitious body of work to date. Drawing inspiration from the electronic LP boom of the early 2000s, the album moves fluidly between peak-time club tracks, folktronic ballads, and left-field rap moments—anchored by a genre-blurring, anything-goes pop sensibility.

With an eclectic cast that also includes Harmony Index, CFCF, BEA1991, and more, the album explores themes of turbulence and transition—capturing the emotional highs and lows of life on the road, fleeting connections, and the surreal disorientation of constant movement. The city emerges as a recurring backdrop, shaping the record’s atmosphere with a vivid, textural presence.

Over the past decade, Patrick Holland and Francis Latreille have carved out a distinctive lane in forward-thinking club music, blending dancefloor immediacy with unpredictable sonic turns. Beyond their own releases, the pair have built a reputation as trusted collaborators and producers, working with artists such as James K., Maara, and Tiga.

In support of Fold, Jump Source will take their hybrid live and DJ performances across the globe, including a residency at Public Records in New York City, followed by appearances in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Chicago. The duo will also celebrate the album’s release with a special hometown live performance at Theatre Fairmount on May 2.

With Fold on the horizon, Jump Source continue to push the boundaries of contemporary electronic music—offering a project that feels as rooted in club culture as it is unafraid to venture far beyond it.
