Underground event brand Modern Funktion, known for its culture-first approach to dance music, celebrates its five-year anniversary with an ambitious European summer tour spanning London, Barcelona, Malta, Amsterdam, Ibiza, Croatia, and beyond. Set to be the brand’s most expansive year yet, the anniversary run spotlights both established names and rising underground talent, reinforcing Modern Funktion’s reputation as a tastemaker with a sharp ear for forward-thinking house music.

The celebrations kicked off in January at The Cause in London, featuring standout performances from B.Love, Captain Wallop, DJ Perception, Dr Dubplate, Sweely, The Trip, and Truly Madly. Building on that momentum, the brand heads to OFF Sonar in Barcelona with appearances from Dr Banana, Shanti Celeste b2b Peach, and The Ghost.

From there, Modern Funktion touches down in Ibiza with Kepler b2b Phil & Benji, Locklead, and Bullet Tooth, before joining Defected Croatia for its final season at The Garden, featuring Jeremy Sylvester, LP Rhythm, and Laidlaw. Additional stops include Eastern Electrics with Ella Knight, Mella Dee b2b Reeshy, and Truly Madly, plus Hide & Seek Festival, Amsterdam’s iconic Shelter, and events in Zurich, Malta, Manchester, and Leeds.

The tour also introduces a wave of debutants to the Modern Funktion stage, including Egyptian Lover, Fumiya Tanaka, Peach, Shanti Celeste, Gene, Dungeon Meat, Jamback, Kepler, A for Alpha, Mella Dee, and DJSweet6Teen. Core residents Phill de Janeiro & Benji King, Izzy, Jude Lenihan, j:me, and Mya continue to define the brand’s signature sound.

Reflecting on the milestone, Modern Funktion shares: “Our five-year tour reflects the hard work we’ve been building toward since day one. It’s a true representation of our vision, and we’re proud of the artists and partners involved. We can’t wait to deliver an experience our community will cherish for years to come.”

Founded on a commitment to underground house culture and local talent, Modern Funktion operates with a clear ethos: no phones, no egos, no nonsense. Over the past five years, the brand has hosted events at venues including 93 Feet East, Amber’s, BRET, fabric, and Corsica Studios, with highlights such as the London debut of Across Boundaries (Chris Stussy and Locklead) and showcases featuring Max Dean and Luke Dean.

As Modern Funktion enters its sixth year, the anniversary tour stands as both a celebration and a statement — reaffirming its role at the forefront of Europe’s underground dance music movement.
