by The Freaks - Staff

Charlotte de Witte – ‘Apollo’

“The vastness and solitude of space always interested me. A compelling contrast between monumental power and the vacuum in between. This diversion can also be found in techno music, a pure simplicity divergent in power.”

Charlotte de Witte on ‘Apollo

AVIRA x The Golden Boy – ‘Reach Out For Your Love’

Teaming up with Birmingham-based producer The Golden Boy, AVIRA rouses his global fan base with his next release on Armada Music. A blend of tingling arpeggios, strong vocals and a bass-beat synergy tailored to dance floors, ‘Reach Out For Your Love‘ and its complimentary, techno-tinged Warehouse Mix are worth an infinite amount of replays.

Talla 2XLC – ‘Avalon’

Talla 2XLC keeps the quality uplifting trance flag flying with ‘Avalon‘ on That’s Trance. The track is a solid power trancer with thumping kicks, bouncing beats and a full-on energetic bassline. The melodies come in slowly to reach under your skin and enter your soul. The breakdown opens up to the big melodic elements that expand with anthemic violins and epic strings. The main section is truly explosive allowing all the synths and strings to create a sensitive, sad yet uplifting sonic experience.

Kx5 – ‘Alive’

As the third stop of Kx5’s sonic exploration, ‘Alive‘ is a tougher sounding song with its galloping beat, triumphant synth swells and yearning vocals courtesy of TMTF, an act with a distinctive approach towards sky-scraping, emotive alternative rock and heady brand of lush, atmospheric indie who previously collaborated with Kaskade on ‘Haunt Me‘. Paired with Kx5’s captivating production, look for ‘Alive’ to transcend between the genres these collectively thrive in.

Alesso x Sick Individuals – ‘We Go Out’

Venessa Michaels x Luck – ‘Spirit On Mine’

Aquaplane‘ sees frequent collaborators Tom Staar and Kryder uphold their status as two of dance music’s most innovative producers. Moon Boots – ‘Hot Minute (feat. Black Gatsby)’

Hot Minute‘ is the first and the vocals of longtime collaborator Black Gatsby. With a sassy chorus that echoes Anderson .Paak and Sylvester with a gospel-inflected breakdown, ‘Hot Minute’ shows off the full range of Black Gatsby’s talents and his unique musical rapport with Moon Boots. This bop is a tantalising taste of what Dougherty has been up to in the studio.

Nico Losada – ‘Vistas Panorámicas’

“I never thought that this would be released in the first place, so, I guess the mission for this record is to be heard and hopefully be understood as something honest and genuine. ‘Vistas Panorámicas‘ has a feel based on my love for mountains. Every time I’m around a mountain it vanishes my own self and it gives me this feeling of serenity. This song is inspired by that.”

Nico Losada

Agents Of Time – ‘Universo’

Andrea Di Ceglie and Luigi Tutolo, the two members of Agents Of Time, used their time during the pandemic to work on ‘Universo‘, an album loosely conceptualised around their ‘personal universo’, a manifestation of the world Di Ceglie and Tutolo built both within and around their studio. This accounts for the sparkle and brightness of ‘Universo’ – it’s full of personality, vim and vigour, the duo experimenting with their music, exploring its furthest corners. If you come to ‘Universo’ expecting just another album of melodic techno, get ready to be pleasantly surprised – there’s a whole lot more going on here, and it’s all equally compelling.

Starkillers x Andrea Godin – ‘Lick My Hoover’

Lick My Hoover‘ is another bangin’ in-your-face house track from Starkillers and Andrea Godin. This record features a clever lyrical theme with a double meaning and no lack of personality!

Having originally reworked 15 tracks for his DJ sets, Cerrone finally bowed to the pressure and released these updated versions on the new album. The first of the two, ‘Todo Empezo’ is hard not to move to with its infectious groove and catchy melodic elements. The second track, ‘Sucias’ is an expressive record filled with some heavy drums, shuffling percussion, and anthemic vocals.

Rory Carney – ‘Love Dancing’

“‘Love Dancing‘ is essentially about joy in the moment, in this song through dancing on a night out. Even if things may be going wrong, there is still joy in letting go and feeling the music.”
