ReKinection Spring Celebration is returning April 16th-19th to the Wildwood Education Center just 30 minutes south of Kansas City. The new festival began in 2018 and announced its biggest lineup to date including Beats Antique, CloZee, Russ Liquid, and Calvin Arsenia.
The Spring celebration is put on by ReKinection, a collaboration of artists and performers who host wellness and arts events. Laura Lockton, the founder of ReKinection, has been the director of more than 25 multi-day events that focus on enlightenment, education, and entertainment. Lockton and the collective work to bring mindfulness and music together for a higher level of spiritual celebration.
Wildwood Education Center is playing host this year to not only ReKinection Spring Celebration but also Dancesfestopia. The land offers 150 acres of picturesque woods, ponds, and meadows. If you grew up in the Kansas City metro you probably spent an overnight camp weekend on the grounds when you were 12. I’ll be trading out ghost stories for bonfire jam sessions and what is sure to be a different kind of overnight. The festival plans to have 7 stages and activity areas with over 75 different holistic and wellness activities to choose from.
The ever enchanting Beats Antique is headlining Friday night of the festival and is sure to get the crowd swirling and twirling. The trio composed of Tommy Capell, Zoe Shakes and David Satori will be blessing the festival with their experimental and genre-defying sounds and performance. With ReKinections focus on artistry and performing arts, Beats Antique is a perfect fit.
CloZee will be bringing her World Bass tunes to the Gratitude Main Stage on Saturday night. She’s been in the studio finishing up her new album and I can’t wait to see what she’s been working on. I’m thrilled to be able to see her so close to my home in Kansas City and at Red Rocks this year. Her one of a kind transformative vibes go seamlessly with the flow of the festival.
ReKinection Spring Celebration will feature some fantastic local Kansas City artists that are absolute must-sees! Recycled Funk is a four-piece Electronic Funk band that will get your body moving. From groovy saxophone to wompy electronic beats, they’re sure to bring an all-out dance party to the fest. Spend Sunday afternoon in the church that is Ecstatic Dance with Kansas City’s own, Coughman. Other notable local artists are Stonegood and My Pet Monster. Tune into Coughman’s online radio community, Escape Pod Radio for fresh-squeezed beats from dope Kansas City artists and more.
If you’re looking for a smaller scale fest with big energy, ReKinection Spring Celebration is sure to satisfy your soul. You can find me there diving headfirst into spring and this tasty lineup.
