A Guide to Shuffling Between CRSSD Stages at Spring Edition 2020

by The Freaks - Staff

As we spend the winter months eagerly awaiting the return of the best part of the year, we can all agree we’re drooling over the Spring 2020 edition of CRSSD Festival. With the anticipated return to Waterfront Park in San Diego, this lineup comes out swinging with a mix of House, Techno, Electro, and Indie-pop most seasoned EDM lovers are gasping over.

With a three-stage setup, we start our first glance at artists intended to play at The Ocean View stage. Indie-Electronic group Rüfüs Du Sol have become a world favorite after their 2018 album Solace was nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 2020 Grammy’s. Up next, renowned French producer and DJ Gesaffelstein will grace us with his presence and leave us all feeling enchanted with his threatening style of Techno. With a dabble of live music, The Rapture has swept the Indie underground scene since the early 2000s and brings us a post-Punk revival sound with a touch of electronic vibes. I think one of the most exciting live additions here is an electronic duo composed of 2square and Antipop going by the name Télépopmusik. EDM and non-EDM lovers will know this Downtempo, Electro House duo by their top-single breathe which encases some strong nostalgic feels.

The Palms, our second stage set up, is beautifully curated with green foliage and an eclectic genre spread. Right off the bat, we are excited for Techno and House music gurus Chris Lake and Patrick Topping along with organic sound princess, Nora En Pure. With a desegregated genre preference, Brodinski has brought together Techno production with American rappers for a unique sound experience. No longer working with The Bromance Label which is highly renowned in Paris, he currently works on projects that focus on North American Hip Hop. Moving along to a project that has been alive since I was born, rhythm composer Étienne de Crécy is made up of Trip Hop, Downtempo, and Electronica that produces some sincerely feel-good sounds. Purple Disco Machine brings in, you guessed it, our Disco-House vibes and it is some funky shit.

Lastly, we have our City Steps stage that is influenced by nothing but the flare of dark Techno. Legendary British DJ And Producer Carl Cox has been in the music game for well over 30 years. He truly deserves the label as best DJ in the world deemed by fans and mixing magazines from all ends of the earth. He travels multiple genres from Breakbeat to mainstream but lands in his signature hard Techno sound. While being fresh in the scene, Charlotte De Witte is still another queen that will charm us with her uncompromising, individual and headstrong Techno style. Representing  France again, we will follow producer I Hate Models into his mysteriously industrial-tinged Techno sound. He is set apart from the rest with his EDM, acid, and psychedelic sounding signature. Mark Knight already being a leading player in the industry will bring us a thrilling and full-bodied b2b with Technasia. Technasia has created a unique East/West fusion all over the world and adds to this impeccable lineup that I can’t wait to experience.
