Bass music has been such a buzz word lately as the genre continues to take on new lives. We know Bass music traditionally in forms such as Dubstep or Drum ‘n’ Bass. Now, we are in a very exciting era where leftfield, downtempo, and space are words that preface “bass music.” The music that we see being created today is simply beginning to transcend rules and labels, and the Universal Wub Tour embodies that exact movement.
The name implies it all: LSDREAM’s music submerges you into a psychedelic dream world of everything beautiful and bass. His set started with something that very few probably noticed. There was incense lit and set on stage, the decks were cleared of a night’s worth of empty water bottles and Red Bull cans. The space was cleared, cleansed, and prepared for the soul revival that we were about to undergo. With powerful songs charged with healing such as “Ace Of Cups,” it was clear that LSDREAM is someone who respects the power of energy and wants to treat the vessel for his music with care. Then we were off, “ascending into the astral dimension and riding the frequencies of bass and light beyond the end of infinity.”
There was an instant shift in energy as Shlump took over the decks. LSDREAM came to clear our hearts and minds, Shlump came to help us enjoy that clarity and bliss. His energy is so infectious that even when standing at the back of this sardine-packed Atlanta club I felt as if I was gripped onto the rail. We were served bone-shattering bass and sounds that only aliens could conjure. It didn’t stop there though, the two commanded the decks and closed out the night with a b2b to remember.
I left the club feeling tons lighter and felt something shift inside of me. I’ve experienced hundreds of sets but I had never experienced something quite like that before. The Universal Wub Tour is equal parts bass and healing. It’s a one of a kind soul-altering experience and you’d be missing out if you didn’t try to catch a tour stop near you.
