Curing Heartbreak with L.A. Nights | CADE’s WOLF BLUE EP

by Tanya Valencia

It seems there are always new names popping up in the EDM world and it’s tough to get a foothold in this fast-moving industry. CADE is a relatively new name to the scene. He is starting to make a name for himself after he joined forces with Cheat Codes early on and found incredible popularity with his “Pretty Girl” remix. It’s been about a year and a half since CADE signed with Ultra Music and he’s maximized this opportunity by creating a lot of new tracks while also traveling and performing all across the world. With a modern R&B sound paired with an electronic vibe, CADE produces excellent solo tracks as well as collaborations.

For me, music is about much more than the song at hand. I would like to know who the artist is and a little about them in order to understand the various layers of their art. As a DJ thriving in Los Angeles you can see the nightlife style reflected in what CADE produces. He took his experience through a recent painful breakup and channeled much of those emotions into his work. He recently released a six-track EP in November of this year on the Ultra Music label called WOLF BLUE. CADE is able to get his heavy emotions through in this EP while still providing some really fun tracks! He features his own smooth vocals through a good portion of the EP but he also teams up with a few other vocalists to bring a more dynamic sound. Here’s a quick rundown of the vibes I’m getting from each track.

CADE with a subtle pop of blue preceding his WOLF BLUE EP release

Many of us have gone through a rough heartbreak in our lives and WOLF BLUE had me thinking about some of my own. “Too Much” is the first track off the album and it sets the tone for a journey through the ups and downs of a breakup. This song gives an upbeat spin to the overwhelming wave of feelings and thoughts that are inescapable when your heart has been shattered. “Better off Alone” feels like the stage when you start to accept that the relationship is actually over. CADE seems to be trying to convince himself that moving forward and partying into the L.A. night is what his heart wants. In the track “Crazy”, the one line that really got me right at the beginning of this song is “You never know what we could have been, baby.” All those racing thoughts of everything you miss about the person or the relationship just start driving you up a wall. His next track, “Home To You” is a partnership effort with Desiigner. This features a more Hip Hop rhythm than his previous tracks and it provides a great change of pace as you listen through the EP. He continues with the same Hip Hop style in his track “Strip Club” where he partners up with lil aaron. True to his L.A. lifestyle, CADE dedicates this track to his unintentional love interest he finds along his path to healing. He rounds out his EP with a solo track titled “Yours” where he asks the simple question, “Can I be yours?” This final track brings the emotions of a love lost full circle.

I recommend taking some time to listen through what CADE has to offer. He’s put a lot of himself into this EP and it reflects his efforts well. Track his journey from loss to healing in WOLF BLUE.
