Hot off their Lost Lands ‘Dab the Sky’ set, as well as taking the stage with Illenium on his ‘Ascend’ tour, Dabin and Said The Sky are well on their way to solidify 2019 as their most accomplished year to date. Recently taking the stage for a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden to debut ‘Hero‘ the guys have been working on this collab for quite some time. We are so mesmerized that we had to make them BOTH our collective MCM this week.
Playing piano as well as other instruments since the age of eight, Colorado native Trevor Christensen has continued to push boundaries with a refreshing perspective on music. Pairing a refined ear for melodies, emotive composition and years of technical training, Said The Sky has consistently reminded the world that past the mental confines of electronic dance music sits the prospect of making beautiful and moving soundscapes for the masses. His music is what he hopes it to be, an experience: a captivating blend of moving basslines and soaring melodies. It’s a sense of permanence and belonging that has made the ascension of Said The Sky a captivating experience across the globe.
Dabin is a JUNO nominated music producer/instrumentalist from Toronto. Having spent his teens learning to play the piano, drums, and guitar; Dabin started producing electronic music in 2011. Dabin distinguishes himself with a unique genre-defying live show in which he incorporates electronic guitar, synthesizers and drum pads. Through his sonic stories, Dabin has touched the souls and sets of producers like Illenium, Don Diablo, Excision, Gramatik, and BTSM. Dabin has also collaborated directly with such acts as Illenium, Seven Lions, SLANDER, and of course, Said The Sky for iconic hits that have catapulted him forwards.
Their newest project ‘Hero’ beautifully blends Dabin’s trademark guitar melodies and Said The Sky’s stirring basslines to create yet another emotion-filled anthem from the long-time collaborators and friends. The invigorating single sees Olivver the Kid’s euphoric vocals flow over Dabin’s wielding guitar melodies before falling into an explosively climactic drop.
Said the Sky and Dabin continue to put themselves at the forefront of bass music that makes you feel, deeply, as they harness individually unique talents that effortlessly blend into one enchanting unit that is ‘Dab The Sky’. Their entrancing live performances have enchanted crowds across the world while taking part in ILLENIUM’s live band in both the ‘Awake’ and ‘Ascend’ tours. After the release of Dabin’s widely esteemed ‘Wild Youth’ LP, he journeyed on a nationwide ‘Wild Youth’ tour as an ode to this sophomore LP. Said the Sky continues to seal his standing within the melodic bass territory following his collaboration ‘Already Know’ with Adventure Club.
With yet another wildly successful year for ‘Dab the Sky’ – ‘Hero’ will serve as a true testament to both producers’ awe-inspiring artistic prowess. This track is the icing on the cake of this MCM and I can’t stop jamming out to it. Catch their last Dab the Sky set of 2019 at Arizona’s Decadence NYE!
