The Sacred Rules of EDC Orlando | The Headliner’s Handbook

by The Freaks - Staff

Every festival comes with its own special sense of community, and Electric Daisy Carnival Orlando is no different.

Celebrating music in the beautiful sunshine state, it’s no surprise that the EDC culture is one that embraces positivity, exclusivity, and diversity. With beautiful palm trees and a constant bright shining sun, one can’t help but be happy while in Orlando. It’s clear why Insomniac, the company that puts on the festival, chooses Tinker Field each year.

Founder and CEO Pasquale Rotella, said in an interview with Fox35: “It’s a city that has an energy about it that ties very well into what EDC is about. Being your best self, no judgment, accepting people of all different kinds.”

In an effort to keep the positive vibes going, EDC has a “Headliner’s Handbook” – a short and simple guide to being the best headliner (or what you might call an attendee) you can be. Insomniac values the EDM culture and strives to create an environment where the history of the scene is honored, while also celebrating where it’s moving in the future. This means teaching the new attendees what it means to be a “headliner”, and reminding the old heads that they were fresh and starry-eyed once, too.

Rule 1: Always Be a Headliner

Being a headliner means being a part of something bigger than ourselves. We enter the festival with thousands of others ready to embrace the music and celebrate life. After the festival has closed, we should continue to take that positivity we absorbed and spread it past the festival gates.

Rule 2: Spread Love

EDC stays true to their core beliefs in an effort to inspire and unite the community past the festival. That love we feel should be spread no matter where we go.

Rule 3: Respect the Space

While EDC is only our home for a few days, we can’t forget about the locals that live there year-round. We have to take care of the environment we rage out in – that means cleaning up your trash and respecting those around us.

Rule 4: Ignite Positivity

The attendees of a festival set the vibe for it. You and your crew should enter EDC ready to have the time of your lives, and hyping others up as well. Don’t wipe that smile off of your face.

Rule 5: Embrace the True You

When you enter into EDC, you should feel free to dance like no one is watching, where whatever outfit makes you feel confident, and celebrate everything that makes you unique. Don’t be afraid to be anyone but you, and accept others for doing the same.

Rule 6: Care For One Another

Health and safety is a huge concern for EDC’s team, and that starts with each headliner. It’s important to look out not only for yourself and to understand your own limits but to be aware of your surroundings and help out friends and strangers too.

Rule 7: Be Open to Experience

Some ravers will plan out every minute of every day before they attend a festival, but it’s important to leave room for new experiences, too. Seek out different art installations, meet new friends, and give some upcoming artists you haven’t heard a try. Be present in each moment.

Rule 8: Keep the Beat Going

The EDM community spans generations. At EDC, you will encounter 40-year-olds grooving out to techno all the way to young bassheads on the rail for Excision. It doesn’t matter how many events you have gone too or what type of subgenre is your favorite – what is important is sharing the experience with each other and passing down the advice you have learned.

EDC Orlando is a special event that cannot be missed. Tickets are still available here, and the festival will be taking place on November 8th, 9th, and 10th.
