The year was 1982, Michael Jackson released the THRILLER album; the first CD player was sold in Japan and Daley Padley entered into the world. It was until around 2011, that Daley started releasing his funky House beats under the moniker Hot Since 82 and he’s been putting down funkdafied beats ever since. Being a huge fan of House music, seeing Hot Since 82 was on my shortlist for a very long time. This weekend in Tempe, Arizona seeing him becomes a reality.
Back in 2010 at an Ibiza after-party, the speakers suddenly cut out and Padley plugged in his iPhone and played one of his works-in-progress tracks. The crowd was definitely feeling the song and gave him positive reviews. Padley contacted his Danish DJ/Producer friend NOIR with the track shortly thereafter and he was sold! NOIR released “Let it Ride” on his label NOIR Music in late September and it hit number three on Beatport’s deep house chart. HOT SINCE 82 was born.
Hot Since 82 is in Tempe for two shows this weekend. First, he will be throwing down at my favorite venue Shady Park followed by the brand new venue down the street, Sunbar. What makes this even cooler?! This his first time in Arizona with his signature sound, and we get to see him play TWICE in one night a few blocks from each other.
House music fans, you cannot miss these shows. See you in Tempe.
