As Summer comes to an end, and the school year settles in, some of us are realizing we are not ready to let go of the fun. Luckily for those of us holding on, our solution is just around the corner. For another year Dirtybird Campout returns to Northern California for its West Coast version of Adult Summer Camp. Everything from a fully stacked lineup, to an array of fun-filled camp games to take us back to the easier times in life. Who knows if the Modesto Reservoir Campgrounds are ready for our return, but they only have a few short days to decide. Those who have made the decision to embark on the adventurous journey are furiously packing their bags and preparing their last-minute necessities. It’s obvious that a large reason everyone attends the Campout is to be absorbed in the non-stop music happening from Papa Bird himself, Claude VonStroke and others like Justin Martin, Mija, and to the campers renegade parties that go until dawn. There are however those that enjoy listening to the music in the background while they engage in the numerous activities and games that even some of the artist choose to join in on.
As a first-timer, learning that the event truly resembles that of a Girl Scout/ Boy Scout outing was extremely enticing. Not only are there numerous workshops and classes like dancing with Bento Box Crew, tie-dying, or various types of yoga, there are a wide variety of activities and games to participate in. It is highly encouraged that you step out of your comfort zone and play along. Upon arrival to camp, you will be provided a colored bandana which unites you with other attendees for the weekend apart of a team. Even the artists get in on some of these games! As Dirtybird says, the artists are not sitting behind velvet ropes at this event. Some of the artists on the lineup are hosting games throughout the weekend. Do not miss your chance to throw a dodgeball at Westend or get into screen-printing with Sacha Robotti. For the full list of activities and workshops head over to the website!
