Most commonly known for his role as the fan favorite character Hodor in Game of Thrones, Kristian Nairn is a man of many talents. His outward appearance is one that you can’t easily forget. At 6 foot 10 inches and described as a gentle giant, 43-year-old Nairn has always maintained an interest in the arts not solely limited to acting but also including music.
Originally from Lisburn, Northern Ireland Nairn is also a DJ. Going by the touring moniker Rave of Thrones, Nairn has a wealth of knowledge in music starting off his career as a singer and musician. Trained in piano, guitar, and a lover of opera and classical music, Nairn has been a DJ since DJ’s carried vinyl records in milk crates. He released singles “Up” (a classic vocal house featuring Leanne Robinson) and “Beacon” in 2015, maintained a residence as a DJ in an Irish night club, and has been traveling the globe playing sets to loyal fans who admire his acting ability and relish in his music selections.
Discussing his status as a gay man in 2014, Nairn acknowledges how important it was for him to stand up and be counted as part of the gay community. A proud LBGTQI member and never hiding the truth about his sexuality, Nairn is an advocate for gay marriage and supports the right for everyone to have this option.
If you love trance, then you will love Nairn’s sets. He blends a selection of trance focusing on quality arrangements and refrains from playing mainstream trance. The result is a high-quality trance set where the collection is cohesive, flows effortlessly and provides a sense of meaning for the listener. Nairn’s performances are an emotional investment and pretty much provide the audience a window to how he is feeling at that moment. Nairn also loves the reaction from fans when they hear his sets which he finds rewarding. His love of vocals, specifically falsettos and women with deep bass ranges, Nairn can see the expression in unexpected vocal norms and make it work in his own tracks while presenting his own point of view as an artist. Able to work with bass tracks, synthesizers or vocals, Nairn is incredibly talented in working with instrumental trance and wants the crowd to be swept away by the music the same way he is.
