Above & Beyond, Gabriel & Dresden, and Spencer Brown provided the soundtrack to a phenomenal night at Red Rocks. The venue was more gorgeous than I ever imagined. Being surrounded by nature’s beauty and thousands of Anjunafamily was an event I will never forget.
I traveled from Texas for this show with three of my best buddies. We all agreed, this was one of the best shows we’ve ever been to. We got to the venue early for the Anjunafamily Red Rocks meet up which was in one of the back parking lots. It was a tailgating adventure. People were hanging out with music bangin from their cars. Everyone was walking around meeting each other and trading Kandi and other Anjuna items. It was awesome meeting new Anjunafamily and running into friends you’ve met at other shows.
We started lining up to get into the venue around 6ish and climbed the steep incline into the front entrance. Everyone was super pumped, and the energy was high. Once inside the venue, I was floored by the beauty of our surroundings. It was breathtaking, the way the stage, seating area, and vendors fit so perfectly in between the rock structures of the amphitheater.
We quickly found our seats and got ready for sunset yoga with Elena Brower. I was lucky enough to experience Flow State Yoga with Elena at the ABGT Weekender at the Gorge and knew this was something I did not want to miss. She is so inspirational, and positive and just puts you in a calming state. It was the perfect beginning to what was to be an incredible night.
Once the yoga set had concluded, Spencer Brown made his way to the decks and put on an impressive performance. His remix of Ilan Bluestones “Will We Remain”, had the crowd on their feet and dancing their hearts out! He concluded with “Long Way from Home” which is one of my favs and I might have shed a tear or two.
Gabriel & Dresden were up next, and they were on fire! They debuted several tracks off their new album “Remedy” which we are all waiting oh so patiently to be released. They also played some of their classics like “As The Rush Comes” and “Tracking Treasure Down”. Every time I see Gabriel & Dresden, I am blown away their sets. They keep getting better and better.
Finally, we got to the main event, Above & Beyond. Paavo and Jono started their set with “Is it Love” and the sold-out Red Rocks crowd were ecstatic. The energy inside the venue was electric. People were singing along to every track, dancing, and just happy to be in Colorado on this gorgeous night experiencing this extraordinary event.
The push the button moment was a special one, it happened during “Sun and Moon” and the couple that was picked was sitting right in front of us. Their excitement was contagious, we were so happy for them. We thought the night was over when “Northern Soul” was played but the boys were not done yet. The ending of the magical Red Rocks evening was with “On a Good Day” and it was the perfect track to end this perfect night.
Everything about Red Rocks was outstanding. It was a flawless night in Colorado; the weather, the crowd, the vibe, and the incredible venue were all stellar. This show will definitely go down as one of the best nights of the year.
