The infamous masked DJ Boris Brejcha sold out a majority of his tour dates in the States and his stop in Austin was no different. The tickets for this show were gone in record time and the excitement and anticipation for his set were apparent. People from all over Texas made their way to Austin for this Sunday night appearance.
Social Media was a buzz in the weeks leading up to the event from people trying to acquire tickets. When the show night finally arrived the venue was jam-packed! We arrived at Cedar Street Courtyard a little before eleven and the opener Kai Castro was already on the decks. His set had a good flow and was totally getting the crowd in the groove. RealMusic Events owner Andrew Parsons, who was also the host of the night, came on next and his set was hard and bangin. He definitely got the crowd pumped up and ready for Brejcha.
The main event, the man we came to see Boris Brejcha took the stage around 12:30 A.M. and the crowd was ecstatic to see him make his way to the front. Chants of “Boris”, “Boris”, Boris” rang out through the sea of people. When he took the decks and played his first track the crowd erupted with exhilaration! Brejcha did not disappoint. He was everything we expected. A dramatic, deep progressive masterpiece. He exuded massive energy and was dancing and hopping around during the entirety of his set.
A few things heard in the crowd during the night regarding the venue were complaints about the heat. It was a hot summer night in Texas and with a sold-out show you can expect to get sweaty, but with few fans and little air conditioning, it made the place a scorcher.
All in all, the night was great. Maybe next time we will be lucky enough to get an extended set by Brejcha because an hour and a half is just not enough for this legend! You still have a chance to check out Boris Brejcha. He has a few dates in the States coming up so get your tickets, if you can, you do not want to miss out on his outstanding show.
