This past weekend, Gareth Emery and Anthony Garcia brought Laserface back to its birthplace — New York City! Just when you thought the boys couldn’t outdo themselves, they managed to do so yet again.
It all begins with the carefully selected lineup that was sure to bring the energy before Gareth stepped on stage. Progressive beats flowed out of the speakers during Mike Saint-Jules’ flawless set. Adam Scott picked up the pace and hit us with some unforgettable trance classics that had the whole venue singing at the top of their lungs. Next up was Alastor, who played the perfect set to support was about to come next — the lasers.
Lasers on lasers!
Gareth Emery made his dramatic entrance as per usual and everyone had their hands in the air! Lasers shot out scanning over the vast crowd while the music reached upwards into the crescendo. This has to have been the best intro to a show that I’ve ever experienced. Especially so, since it just felt like home with Laserface finally being back in NYC after 18 months of venturing to new locations and venues.
The man behind the decks, Gareth Emery played a variety of music that spanned from classics to recent releases, original remixes to much-anticipated IDs. When ‘Arrival’ came on, it really played at my heartstrings as that was the intro track that was played the first time I saw ever saw Gareth — to hear it live with laser shooting through the air was an awakening experience. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Gareth Emery set without tracks like ‘Saving Light’ and ‘Concrete Angel’, which had everyone shouting the lyrics loud and clear. He also dropped ‘No Good (Start The Dance)’ by The Prodigy as an ode to the late Keith Flint. Finally the set was winding down, but the BPMs were not as Gareth ended his set with Darren Styles’ remix of ‘Lights and Thunder’. What an explosive end to an incredible set.
We don’t ever want this night to end!
The night wasn’t over yet though. STANDERWICK took to the stage and tore it up with heavy-hitting tracks. He really took it to the next level closing out the night.
It was a night to remember, that is for sure. The energy, the vibe, the venue, the lineup, the music and the lasers — they all came together for a night of perfection.
Holding the first open-air edition of the show, the Brooklyn Mirage provided a spectacular atmosphere for fans to have an extremely unique experience. The sold out show wow’d the entire crowd with the way the lasers streamed through the air as they were perfectly synced up to two hours of expertly handpicked tunes.
