As my first time attending the full Miami Music Week, I made a list of parties I wanted to attend. After hearing all the hype about Get Lost from Miami locals, I was most excited to see what Damian Lazarus organized for the Techno and House music fans.
When the sun began to rise on Saturday morning, all I could think about was this party. I had no idea what to expect, what to wear, or where I was headed to. Members of my party crew were either sleeping or still at the club from the previous night. I had not heard of Lemon City Studios, and when I arrived there was no sign of a party until I walk a few minutes and hear the beautiful techno bass echoing out of this interesting venue. Coming from New York City, I enjoy the elation that comes with entering a party in the early morning hours. As I receive my wristband I enter Lemon City Studios and find myself in what appears to be a garden. This is the perfect way to begin a morning party, vendors offering fresh lemonade, and many refreshing drinks to get us pumped for a full day of dancing.
The Garden of Eden was the first stage that welcomed me into this incredible event. I walk into a garden of beautifully dressed techno fans ready to party. As I walk further into this venue I actually feel lost because I don’t know what to expect. Before I settle into a DJ set I want to explore. What I find amazing about Get Lost is that while the party was warming up, stages and artwork were in the process of being completed. As the day went on the venue began to grow. Enticing works of art began to appear as I further explored this unique venue. I would try to rest but Raw District would pump up the bass and bring intense vibrations to the Lemuria tent. As much as I wanted to stand up and dance in front of these talented artists I had to sit down outside of the tent, and of course, the music kept my body moving.
My favorite part of this experience is that I went alone, and as I would explore and dance until I could not feel my legs, people would approach me with the most heartwarming vibes. I could sit there for hours and meet the most fascinating people ready to converse and dance with me. While I explore this party throughout the day I meet these marvelous humans who are visiting Miami from all over the world. When I attend a party, I look for more than the music. During
I sit and shake my body to the groove of Gorgon City, and I noticed a stage opened up nearby. Until now I have not heard such an intense set from Gorgon, and later on, the vibrations drag me to the MU stage where Behrouz is stimulating the crowd with his melodic sounds. When you attend a quality concert, the DJ has no reason to speak. During Get Lost Miami every artist controlled the crowd with their music. What I love is that the special guests were unannounced, so you had to be there to find out who would show up. The afternoon became more intense when Dubfire showed up for a surprise set.
Seeing many people take advantage of re-entry was great. With a 24 hour party it is necessary to leave and return refreshed, ready to continue the night. Get Lost Miami was not just a party or a festival for me, it was an invigorating experience that I did not want to end. Being able to witness a family of many talented artists guide us through this event was something I’ll never forget. I look forward to next year when I return for another adventure, with a dust mask of course.
