New EP showcases the remixes of the five winners from last year’s global talent search powered by PMC Speakers
The EP consists of the five winners’ remixed tracks of Afrojack’s ‘Let It Rip’, taken from Afrojack’s ‘Press Play EP’. The talent search was conducted over the last six months and received submissions from over 129 countries in all corners of the world; all from various producers who all come from diverse backgrounds, have unique stories and were given the chance to have their version of Afrojack’s track heard on this platform. While it was a huge challenge to select the winners; the final five hailing from Finland, the Netherlands, Italy and Japan, were able to put an extra special twist on their versions of the track, which any fan of Afrojack will be excited to hear.
“I have been performing for at least a decade, but it’s always been my passion in building new artists. These five winners are very talented and I’m pumped to be getting the opportunity to work with them and to give them a platform to really grow. I think the fans will hear what they can do and will believe in them like we do.”
— Afrojack, Founder of Wall Recordings and CEO of LDH Europe
The task of each participant was to download the remix parts of ‘Let It Rip’ taken from Afrojack’s ‘Press Play EP’ and submit their remix. Each person was hand selected and personally announced last week by Afrojack on his social media platforms: Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, announcing one producer each day from March 18-22. The winning producers announced are Buzz Low and Exlau, both from the Netherlands, Chipcat from Finland, Italian producer DES3ETT and from across the globe, HIROKI from Tokyo, Japan. PMC Speakers will also reward one of the lucky contestants with its latest, award-winning PMC result6 studio monitors.
The EP release is fresh off the heels of Afrojack’s cross-genre bending hit ‘Sober’ featuring Rae Sremmurd and Stanaj, and ahead of his headlining performance on Sunday night at Ultra Music Festival.
Since 2010, Buzz Low has been creating electronic music from his hometown in the Netherlands. In 2018, his official remix for ‘Friends and Lovers’ reached over 200k Spotify plays within two months and was later played by Oliver Heldens. Most recently, his original track ‘This Is Us’ with vocals by Harley Bird was premiered by Oliver Heldens and Lucas & Steve. He is a resident DJ in Club Ruis, Haarlem, and has performed at festivals and clubs throughout the Netherlands.
Also hailing from the Netherlands is Exlau. His career began with the release of several Soundcloud tracks and remixes. It wasn’t long before artists such as Jonas Blue, Sam Feldt, Bakermat and Robin Schulz began to show support. Now, Exlau has over 2.7 million streams on Spotify and his latest single ‘Sleepless’ is crushing Viral Top 50 charts in over 11 countries. He has left school to pursue his passion for music, and notes “This is an amazing chance for me to make it; to do what I like most. Music.”
Chipcat, the Finnish DJ, began playing music at the age of 6. Coming from a musical family, it was not long before he progressed, and at the age of 13 was introduced to the art of producing. While inspired at a young age by big names like Martin Garrix, David Guetta and Calvin Harris, he has evolved greatly as an artist and as a person and is always moving forward looking for new sounds and styles to make his own.
Italian producer, DES3ETT has embodied the essence of electro music for over 9 years. He has produced and released tracks on labels such as Playbox Music, Bourne Recordings and Musical Madness. He has shared the stage in Greece and Croatia at Papaya (ranked #6 in DJ Magazine’s Top 100 Clubs, 2018) and at several other clubs. He has also held a summer residency in Croatia, and played to a crowd of more than 100,000 at Home Festival, held in Treviso, Italy.
HIROKI hails from Tokyo, Japan. The artist has been studying and working on music production for several years from his home studio, which resulted in various remixes to the release of his upbeat original ‘Get Low’. With his ability to execute a great remix and to produce the highest of quality original tracks, HIROKI is certainly a producer to watch.
All five of these producers have an immense amount of talent. Its without a doubt that these guys will be on the rise in the near future.
