Fresh Music | Black Girl / White Girl | This Duo ‘Mind Warp’ You Into the “Twilight Zone” EP!

by The Freaks - Staff

Talented female DJ , Black Girl / White Girl, is on fire!  Hot off the heels of their heavy hitter “Mind Warp”, released last October, they recently dropped the highly-anticipated “Twilight Zone” EP on Relief Records.

For the past couple of years, the ladies behind the turntables have been successfully breaking new ground in the electronic music scene.  They play with blurring the lines of classic house and techno to make a tripped-out blend of the two genres. Renowned for their ability to deliver infectious dancefloor cuts, the pair has been making serious waves in the industry.  With two well-received EPs on Relief and more sought-after releases on Kittball, Roush and Desert Hearts, Black Girl / White Girl’s career is on the rise and all the signs are pointing higher. In 2017, their EP “No Beef” gained wide recognition and DJ Mag gave it a solid 8.5 rating.

Black Girl / White Girl continue to be fast-rising stars and favorites in the Relief camp, and now they are back with another strong release.

These daring ladies know how to get a crowd groovin’!  The “Twilight Zone” EP features three solid dancefloor heaters, all with the Black Girl / White Girl vibe, yet each is entirely unique.  The tracks captivate the mind and absorb the listener into the beat. I blasted the EP on my speakers while cleaning , and it turned mundane chores into my own personal dance party.  I highly recommend popping on “Twilight Zone” to help spice-up routine tasks or get you in the party mood!

The first track “Chem Cut” is an upbeat peak-time banger.  Catchy vocal samples, booming drums, and crafty analog glitches intertwine to create a sultry tech bomb.  The repetitive, yet clever beat make it almost impossible not to tap your feet!

Reflexions” then, is a thumping cut bordering on big-room techno.  Rugged percussions keep the track moving forward, while stunning diva vocals, unexpected bleeps, and dusky textures add further mystique.  Final track “Body Snatchers” wraps things up in style, with its stripped-down grooves, retro-futuristic percussions, sci-fi inspired synth squiggles, and singular vocal chops coming together to invoke a powerful mood.

These tracks have racked up serious club play over the past few months, and you can expect them to get plenty more.  Listen to the “Twilight Zone” EP on Black Girl / White Girl’s Spotify and SoundCloud, and stay up to date on new releases and other news by following their social media sites.  Find the links below!
