Imagine Music Festival | The Aquatic Fairy Tale

Imagine Music Festival is a premier festival experience of a lifetime. Swimming though an ocean of Imagination that features world class DJs, sea creature circus acts, art installations, transformational workshops, a ferries wheel, poolside yoga, a fashion show, and silent disco.
All the magic that fills your heart through this aquatic experience is sure to get the crowds blood flowing. When the heart is in flow, we can then fully express ourselves, inspiring those around us . Festival culture has sparked many levels of inspiration in festival fashion. Whether it be expressed through color, glitter, flowers and LED lights or those inspired to design and make the entire outfit themselves,  Festival Fashion Freaks explores how the festival scene has been influenced by new age, psychedelic, bohemian and even conventional style. Here are some interviews with a few “Fashion Freaks” I stumbled upon on my ocean journey.

What brought you to Imagine?
I wanted to experience the sense of a new adventure.
Describe the inspiration behind what you are wearing and the message you want to portray to the festival community through your style.
All of what I’m wearing is custom designed for my body and durable as SHIT! It’s an outfit that lasts for many festivals to come. I want to voice Individuality is important don’t forget it’s value of making your own uniqueness shine.
How do you feel the EDM and transformational festival scene has influenced modern day fashion?
We are pushing boundaries , like new age hippies, it allows people to push their limits that are enforced by our society roles. The EDM scene pulls us back into being individuals instead of conformist.

What brought you to Imagine?
All my festival friends were going, I wanted to see what Imagine was really all about.
Describe the inspiration behind what you are wearing and the message you want to portray to the festival community through your style.
Bizarre outfits that stand out are the norm. I strive to stand out by wearing girly rave clothes, I envy the rave girl in 2017. All I want is to meet people; hug, make rave friendships that last and put a smile on EVERYONE.
What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever worn to a festival?
One time I wanted to stand out and wore the inflatable dinosaur; like everyone does, and it definitely got the love that it deserved. It turned me into an attention addict. For the first time in my life I came out of the turtle shell! How can I do one better than an inflated t-rex?! A giant walking penis!

The amazing line up, fantastic time, lots of friends and it’s my 6 year anniversary weekend !

Describe the inspiration behind what you are wearing and the message you want to portray to the festival community through your style.

I am a “DIYer”, designing your own costumes takes dedication and trial and error, but you’re always happy in the end! My favorite color is yellow, the color of happiness and self-acceptance . The message I want express is that everyone feels welcomed . If they are lost just come dance with me cause I got you bro!

How do you feel the transformational festival scene has influenced modern day fashion?

I think it inspires everyone to wear what they want to be comfortable to be naked in their own skin, design a costume of their own, or wear a ridiculous onesie! You    can be who you want to be!

“Trickle up Theory” is when big designers look to sub cultures for innovation. We are the creative life for the fashion world because we take risks and have fun.
