Athens-born and London-based electronic artist Leena Punks is bringing together punk attitude, UK rave energy and euphoric electronic production with her latest release, an official remix of Bodyrox ft. Luciana‘s iconic 2000s track “Yeah Yeah.”
Over the past several years, Leena Punks has established herself as a distinctive presence within electronic music, building a catalogue around melodic euphoria, emotional breakdowns, powerful drops and the raw energy of UK rave culture. Her journey began in Athens, where she discovered electronic music through MTV, radio, pirate radio and international DJs before eventually taking her sound to major festivals and clubs around the world.
Her latest release brings her back to a track that holds particular significance. Originally released in 2006, “Yeah Yeah” became an Electro House classic, written by Bodyrox, Jon Pearn, Nick Bridges and Luciana before gaining further momentum through a remix by British producer D. Ramirez. The track reached No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart and topped the UK Dance Singles Chart, becoming the highest-charting single for both Bodyrox and Luciana.
For Leena, the opportunity to officially remix the track connected a personal memory with her own production style. She remembers discovering “Yeah Yeah” while growing up and being immediately drawn to its unmistakable electro synth and Luciana‘s punk-influenced vocal delivery.
Leena Punks comments:
“Yeah Yeah” is probably one of my favourite tracks of the 2000s. I remember listening to it growing up and watching the video again and again. I loved that filthy, instantly recognisable electro synth, and the whole track takes me straight back to that era when Electro House was huge.
That early connection to Luciana also extended beyond the music itself. Leena was drawn to the singer’s visual identity and punk-inspired style, which became another reason the remix felt particularly meaningful.
Leena Punks shares:
“In terms of the video, I was completely in awe of Luciana. I loved her hair, the blonde streaks, the makeup, her style, and especially the punk attitude in the vocal. I just thought she was incredibly cool. So when I got the chance to remix it and received the stems, I was genuinely nervous. My initial idea was to tease the riff without giving it away, use the strongest part of the vocal as a hook, and make the track as rhythmic as possible.”
Those influences are deeply rooted in Leena‘s upbringing. Growing up in Athens, she was surrounded by her father’s vinyl collection and developed an early connection to electronic music through pirate radio, MTV and international DJs. The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx, UK rave, Garage, House and Trance all helped shape the musical landscape around her, while artists such as Miss Kittin demonstrated the possibilities for women within electronic music.
After moving from Athens to London in 2013, Leena Punks combined her background in journalism, radio and social media with a growing focus on music production, eventually studying at Point Blank Music School. Her interests in fashion, film and visual culture also became an important part of her artistic identity.
The name Leena Punks reflects that combination of electronic music and rebellious punk spirit, with particular influence from Vivienne Westwood. It also connects to her long-standing ambition to release on Stanton Warriors‘ Punks Music, ultimately becoming a fitting expression of her approach to dance music.
Production took on an even greater role in Leena‘s life during the pandemic, leading to a series of releases that opened a new chapter in her career. A key breakthrough arrived with “On The Floor,” followed by support from BBC Radio and Hottest Record recognition in July 2022.
Since then, Leena Punks has taken her sound from the UK club circuit to international stages, performing at Tomorrowland, Creamfields, Dreamstate, Amnesia and Brooklyn Mirage, including a 2023 Tomorrowland appearance at Crystal Garden.
Her work within the electronic music community has also expanded beyond her own releases and performances. In January 2025, Leena launched HESTĒA at E1 London, creating a platform for artists and industry peers while reflecting her wider commitment to the culture.
With listeners across the US, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Canada, Australia, Poland, Brazil, Mexico and Spain, Leena Punks continues to build an international audience while developing a sound rooted in the influences that first inspired her.
Her remix of “Yeah Yeah” gives a defining track from the 2000s a new perspective through Leena‘s own combination of UK rave energy, punk attitude and modern electronic production.
