Independent electronic artist REYUS teams up with London singer-songwriter Émilie Rachel for “Deeper Water,” the latest preview of his forthcoming debut album, I’m Listening. Blending Trance, Garage, House, Hard House and Pop, the track captures the eclectic approach that has become central to REYUS’ sound while placing melody, emotion and storytelling firmly at the forefront.
“Deeper Water” moves between energetic dancefloor momentum and a more introspective emotional core. Émilie Rachel’s vocals add another layer of vulnerability to the production, helping continue the broader narrative running through I’m Listening.
The forthcoming 20-track album is an intentionally wide-ranging project, exploring themes of internal thought, anxiety, relationships and human connection. Rather than allowing genre to dictate its direction, REYUS approaches each track according to the emotion and idea behind it, moving across Electronic, House, Garage, Techno, Pop and Rock throughout the record.
That philosophy is particularly evident on “Deeper Water,” where contrasting dance music influences are brought together without losing the track’s melodic identity.
The collaboration also adds to REYUS’ growing body of work with vocalists from across the electronic music landscape. Émilie Rachel has established herself as a singer-songwriter within dance music, with previous collaborations involving producers and DJs including Nicky Romero and Fleur Shore. Her collaboration with Zen, “Ego,” released through Selected, has surpassed 7 million streams, while her music has earned support from BBC Radio 1, including Danny Howard.
Based in Dorking, south of London, REYUS began writing music at just 10 years old after being inspired by the late Tim Bergling. He played his first club show at 16 and subsequently spent nine years developing his production style within the underground scene under multiple aliases. That period eventually led to the creation of his own label and company, allowing him to take an independent approach to releasing his music.
His catalogue has since attracted support from some of electronic music’s biggest names, including Tiësto, Four Tet, Gorgon City, Jamie xx, Bicep, Vintage Culture, Diplo, Solomun, Mau P and CamelPhat.
Live performance has become an equally important part of the REYUS project. His 2025 REYUS & Friends headline events took him across the UK and Ibiza, with performances at E1, Studio 338, Ministry of Sound, Café Mambo, 528 Ibiza and B Club Kensington. He has also shared lineups with Maceo Plex, Groove Armada, Adriatique, Confidence Man, Basement Jaxx and Sparrow & Barbossa, among others.
Recorded across studios in Hackney, London, Dorking and Ibiza, I’m Listening reflects the different environments and experiences that have shaped REYUS as a producer. The album draws inspiration from artists such as Four Tet, Jamie xx, Bicep and Fred again.., while maintaining the genre-fluid identity that has defined his own work.
With “Deeper Water,” REYUS continues to reveal the emotional center of I’m Listening — an album that treats electronic music less as a fixed genre and more as a vehicle for exploring thoughts, relationships and human connection.
