GRAMMY-nominated musician Andrew Bayer is set to release his fifth studio album, A Light That Guides Weary Travelers Home, on September 4, 2026, via Ophelia Records. Written and produced at his home in Potomac, Maryland, the album captures a period of profound personal transformation as Bayer navigated grief, uncertainty, fatherhood, and a renewed sense of artistic purpose.
The album grew out of a pivotal period in Bayer’s life. After years of questioning his place within his career and the broader electronic music landscape, the birth of his first son, Wesley, marked a dramatic shift in perspective. Bayer subsequently stepped away from touring for a year to spend time with his family, allowing the experiences and losses that preceded fatherhood to inform a new creative direction.
That transformation serves as the foundation for A Light That Guides Weary Travelers Home. Across its ten tracks, Bayer explores moments of grief, parenthood, healing, and personal growth while embracing the unexpected turns that have defined his career. The album reflects an artist continuing to evolve more than a decade into his journey, drawing from his work in trance, collaborations with Armin van Buuren, his time touring North America with Seven Lions, and his subsequent exploration of new musical territory.
Throughout the project, Bayer worked closely with each collaborator to develop stories rooted in personal experience. The result is an album that moves fluidly between styles and tempos while maintaining an emotional thread centered on transformation and healing.
The album opens with “Shield From Harm,” featuring longtime collaborator Vök. Both artists are parents, and the track explores the instinct to overcome past trauma while protecting the people closest to them.
Elsewhere, “Path of Little Deaths” with Loma examines the quieter grief associated with parenthood. The track reflects on watching a child reach important milestones while wishing time could slow down, capturing the bittersweet realization that growth inevitably means leaving certain moments behind.
“I Wish You Well,” featuring Jonathan Mendelsohn, serves as a farewell to the past. The song acknowledges experiences and damage that cannot be undone while embracing the possibility of moving forward with genuine goodwill.
Together, the tracks establish the album’s central theme: the complicated relationship between grief and growth. The album will also arrive alongside an expansive visual campaign directed by Gundars Magone. More than three hours of footage were captured across fifteen locations in Latvia and Estonia, including footage filmed at the world’s oldest operating lighthouse.
The cinematic project will combine these landscapes with intimate scenes from Bayer’s life at home as he adjusts to parenthood. Everyday moments—including spending time with family, watching Wesley play outside, and staying up late to work on new music—will provide a personal counterpoint to the album’s larger visual world.
