TroyBoi Unveils Genre-Spanning “FT” EP On Ultra Records

TroyBoi has officially released his new FT EP via Ultra Records, bringing together seven tracks built around one central idea: collaboration without genre boundaries.

Rather than relying primarily on instrumental production, FT places a diverse group of vocalists at the center of TroyBoi’s unmistakable sound. The result is a project that moves through trap, hip-hop, R&B, reggae, dancehall and pop while maintaining the wonky rhythms, intricate percussion and bass-heavy production that have become hallmarks of his catalog.

“A lot of my previous releases have been instrumental-driven records, but this time I wanted to build something around featured artists and explore what happens when different voices meet my production,” says TroyBoi. “What makes it different is that every track brings a unique artist into my world. The focus isn’t on fitting into one genre, but on creating songs that feel authentic to both of us. My goal is for artists across different genres to hear this project and think, ‘I’d love to create something with TroyBoi.’”

That philosophy is immediately apparent across the EP. “Jungle” grew from TroyBoi’s connection with Shiwa, pairing reggae and dancehall influences with heavy electronic basslines. The track demonstrates how naturally his production can adapt to rhythmic traditions outside the electronic space without losing its identity.

On “HUSH,” Daya brings a hypnotic, pop-oriented quality to the project, delivering smooth and intimate vocals over TroyBoi’s restrained, low-tempo trap production. The collaboration creates one of the EP’s most understated moments, allowing the vocal performance and detailed production to occupy equal space.

The project also expands its international reach through “So Much To Say,” featuring Malaysian hip-hop and R&B artist Zamaera. Her presence adds another cultural dimension to the EP, reinforcing TroyBoi’s interest in bringing artists from different musical backgrounds into the same creative environment.

“La La Land” takes a more energetic approach, pairing TroyBoi’s signature syncopated melodies with the raw, soulful vocals of Morray. The two artists meet in the middle, creating a track that feels tailor-made for summer playlists while retaining enough production detail to land with equal impact in a club setting.

That collaborative chemistry continues on “Picante,” which was created during a Los Angeles studio session with Drew Love. The pair immediately found common ground, allowing the track to develop naturally from their shared creative energy.

“BEAR” represents another long-running relationship finally reaching an official release. After years of staying in contact and sharing mutual respect, TroyBoi and Chicago rapper Rockie Fresh finally joined forces for the track. Their first official collaboration builds on that existing relationship, with additional music already planned between the two artists.

Closing out the EP is “Way Better” with Toxic Rob, following their previous collaboration “Dhunga.” The track gives Toxic Rob room to showcase his lyrical delivery against a fresh musical backdrop, allowing the pair to continue developing a creative chemistry that began with their earlier work.

“The connective tissue throughout the EP is collaboration,” TroyBoi adds. “Every artist on the project brought something unique, but the connection is my production and creating a space where their style could naturally blend with mine. Different artists, different backgrounds, different sounds, all connected by authentic collaborations. I hope it shows people the versatility of what I do and inspires even more artists from different genres to create together in the future.”

The release arrives alongside TroyBoi’s intimate Hear2Move Tour, which is currently taking his new material across North America. Designed around smaller venues and close-up performances, the tour gives fans an opportunity to experience the detailed sound design and heavy low end of his production in a more immediate setting.

With FT, TroyBoi turns collaboration into the foundation of the project rather than simply an added feature. Across seven tracks, different voices, cultures and genres become part of the same sonic world, demonstrating an artist increasingly interested in what happens when creative boundaries are removed.

The FT EP is out now via Ultra Records and available across all major streaming platforms.
