Chicago darkwave and electronic trio Pixel Grip return to the world of their acclaimed 2025 album Percepticide: The Death of Reality with Percepticide Remixed, a new collection that places the record’s volatile club energy in the hands of a diverse cast of electronic producers.
Featuring reworks from KAVARI, Perel, Frazer Ray, Inhalt, Black Asteroid, Auragraph, Curses, Matrixxman, Normal Bias, A Thousand Mad Things, club.drippy, Babymajick, and Pixel Grip themselves, the remix package pushes the album into new corners of electronic music without losing the emotional intensity at its core.
The collection offers a wide-ranging look at just how much room exists within Pixel Grip’s sound. KAVARI takes on “Noise” with a harder, more fractured club approach, while Matrixxman transforms “Reason To Stay” into a heads-down dancefloor weapon built for maximum physical impact. Frazer Ray applies his pristine 2-step sensibilities to “Crows Feas,” and Auragraph recasts “Bet You Do.” through an ’80s-inspired electro lens.
The remaining remixes continue that exploration, drawing Percepticide deeper into the underground while emphasizing different facets of the band’s songwriting, production, and club-focused aesthetic. Rather than simply recreating the original album in different styles, Percepticide Remixed reveals how flexible its emotional and sonic foundation can be.
Released independently in 2025, Percepticide: The Death of Reality represented one of the most volatile chapters yet for Pixel Grip. The album brought together EBM, techno, darkwave, synthpop, and industrial pop in a confrontational sound shaped by themes of betrayal, trauma, rage, and reconstruction.
That intensity has become central to Pixel Grip’s identity. The trio occupies a space between avant-pop, EBM, and minimal wave, balancing industrial grit with peak-time club euphoria and a distinctly sensual pop edge. Their music tackles subjects including wealth disparity, mental illness, and gun violence while maintaining an overstimulated confidence that has helped them stand apart within the modern dark electronic landscape.
The band’s uncompromising approach has also attracted support from cultural heavyweights including Travis Scott, Trent Reznor, and Versace, while their reputation as a ferocious live act has continued to grow alongside the success of Percepticide.
Now, Pixel Grip are bringing that energy back to the stage. The trio will appear at festivals including Hinterland, Just Like Heaven, and Bumbershoot this summer before heading to Europe in the fall for an arena tour supporting KoRn, with stops in Berlin, Prague, Krakow, and additional cities.
