Copenhagen-based, New York-rooted artist, producer, and songwriter True Blue is revisiting one of the most defining songs from her acclaimed 2025 debut mixtape Star Witness with Fountain Edits, a five-track collection that pushes “Fountain” into a series of unexpected new forms. Arriving August 4 via True Nature, the project brings together a carefully selected cast of artists from the international leftfield pop and electronic underground.
Alongside the announcement, True Blue has unveiled the official music video for the original version of “Fountain,” directed by Fiona Kane and filmed in Los Angeles. The visual adds another dimension to a song that has become central to the artist’s growing body of work, while the new EP approaches it from five entirely different perspectives.
Rather than functioning as a conventional remix package, Fountain Edits is built around reinterpretation. True Blue invited artists from her close creative community to pull apart the emotional core of “Fountain” and rebuild it through their own sonic language. The result reflects the international network of artists and producers surrounding her, with contributions from DJ Python, Vanessa Amara, Former Actress, and Harmony Index, alongside “Proof She’s Picked Her Poison,” a newly reworked version created with longtime collaborator Nature Boy.
Across the five interpretations, “Fountain” becomes a flexible starting point for dramatically different electronic worlds. True Nature’s “Proof She’s Picked Her Poison” turns the original into a grungy, trip-hop meditation, bringing a heavier and more introspective atmosphere to its emotional center.
Danish duo Vanessa Amara take the track in a completely different direction, slicing the source material into an ethereal trance-pop reconstruction that feels fragmented and weightless. Meanwhile, DJ Python stretches the song into an expansive eight-minute journey, gradually allowing dembow rhythms to dissolve into ambient jungle textures.
Former Actress transforms True Blue’s pitched-down vocal into a shimmering dream-pop apparition, emphasizing the hazier, more surreal qualities of the original. Closing the collection, Harmony Index delivers an esoteric, breakbeat-driven interpretation that once again shifts the track into unfamiliar territory without losing its emotional pull.
The result is a project that travels across Copenhagen, New York, Los Angeles, and beyond, covering as much geographical distance as it does sonic ground. Yet despite the stylistic differences between each version, Fountain Edits keeps the emotional gravity of “Fountain” intact.
More than a collection of remixes, Fountain Edits functions as an audio snapshot of an interconnected creative scene — one where leftfield electronic music, experimental pop, club sounds, and intimate songwriting can coexist without clear boundaries. That collaborative spirit will continue on the road this fall. During October and November, True Blue will join Boy Harsher across North America as direct support, beginning in Seattle and concluding in New York City, bringing her increasingly expansive sound to audiences across the continent.
