New York-based singer-songwriter ROREY continues to establish herself as one of indie pop’s most emotionally compelling voices, turning deeply personal experiences into music that is both intimate and universally relatable. Through ethereal production, haunting melodies, and fearless songwriting, she explores the complexities of love, identity, grief, and mental health with striking honesty.

Following the release of her sophomore EP, Dysphoria, in 2025, ROREY has unveiled a string of emotionally charged singles that preview her highly anticipated upcoming album, I Get It Now.

Originally written and produced in 2021 alongside longtime collaborator Scott Effman, Dysphoria serves as a deeply personal snapshot of a young artist navigating the disorientation of a manic episode. Across the project, shimmering dream-pop textures intertwine with hypnotic instrumentation and vulnerable lyricism, capturing both the beauty and chaos of searching for meaning while living with mental illness.

Building on that emotional foundation, ROREY’s 2026 releases delve even deeper into the aftermath of love, loss, and self-discovery.

Her latest single, “Temporary Tragedy,” examines the consequences of abandoning oneself in pursuit of intimacy. Anchored by raw vocals and cinematic production, the song reflects on choosing personal healing over relationships that can no longer provide mutual support.

“The song is about the cost of self-abandonment when you grip intimacy and what it means to choose yourself,” ROREY explains.

The accompanying cinematic music video draws inspiration from her first queer relationship, portraying the emotional unraveling that can follow a breakup while emphasizing a universal message about love and acceptance.

“The video is rooted in my first queer relationship; its message is universal: sometimes love isn’t enough to bridge the gap between hope and reality when the other person can’t meet you there.”

That emotional honesty continues with “Dying Fire,” a lush dream-pop ballad that embraces acceptance rather than blame. Rich arrangements and bittersweet melodies underscore a meditation on relationships that cannot be revived, no matter how deeply they were once cherished.

“‘Dying Fire’ sits in this space between love and impossibility,” ROREY says. “The song doesn’t blame or excuse—it simply states with radical acceptance that what once was can never be again. Similar to ‘Temporary Tragedy,’ love can only go so far when one person is left carrying it alone.”

On “Sudden Death,” gritty guitars and enveloping production frame one of ROREY’s most emotionally intense performances. The song explores surrendering to overwhelming feelings while acknowledging the lingering grip of obsessive memories and unresolved desire.

“‘Sudden Death’ admits defeat before the game ever begins because I already knew I lost to my feelings for this person,” she explains. “It’s also an innuendo for intense desire that goes far beyond yearning into borderline obsessive memories that held me hostage in the past I projected onto the present.”

Her newest release, “Binary Thinking,” turns inward once again, capturing the emotional cycle of questioning whether someone’s silence reflects regret, indifference, or relief. The track examines the painful uncertainty that often follows the end of a relationship and the stories people tell themselves when closure never comes.

“This chorus is my favorite because I think we all want to believe the other person will regret losing us,” ROREY shares. “But I also wondered if I even mattered enough to be felt as a loss. I wondered a lot if my absence was more of a relief. I feel like the song highlights that cyclical ‘binary thinking’ when you’re left speculating. While this song was written over a year ago, it could have been written yesterday. Silence is open to interpretation, and the intention behind it doesn’t change the impact.”

Together, these four singles offer an intimate preview of I Get It Now, a project that promises to further showcase ROREY’s gift for transforming life’s most difficult emotional experiences into beautifully crafted songs. Balancing dream-pop atmospheres with candid storytelling, the forthcoming album explores heartbreak, healing, identity, and acceptance with remarkable vulnerability.

As anticipation builds for the full release, ROREY continues to prove that her music offers more than catharsis. It gives voice to emotions that often feel impossible to articulate, creating space for listeners to confront their own experiences while reminding them they are never alone in what they feel.
