Twenty years after the final Love Parade in Berlin, the story of one of electronic music’s most influential cultural movements is coming to the screen. On Friday, July 31, 2026, the documentary Love Is Stronger: From Love Parade to Rave The Planet premieres on the ARD streaming platform, offering an intimate look at the evolution of Berlin’s iconic techno parade and the movement carrying its legacy into the future.

Produced by ARD Kultur, WDR, rbb, and SWR, the documentary follows Dr. Motte and Ellen Dosch-Roeingh over several years as they work to bring the nonprofit Rave The Planet initiative to life. Through previously unseen archival footage and personal perspectives, the film explores the challenges, conversations, and pivotal decisions behind reviving one of electronic music’s most recognizable cultural events.

The documentary revisits the remarkable history of Love Parade, from its grassroots beginnings in Berlin to its rise as a global phenomenon, examining both its rapid commercialization and eventual conclusion. At the same time, it highlights how Rave The Planet has reimagined that legacy through a nonprofit, community-driven vision focused on cultural recognition, inclusivity, and the preservation of electronic music culture.

Following its streaming debut, the film will also air on rbb television on August 12 at 10:15 PM CET.

A Landmark Year for Berlin’s Techno Culture

The documentary arrives during a milestone year for Berlin’s electronic music community. 2026 marks exactly 20 years since the final Love Parade in Berlin, while Rave The Planet celebrates its fifth edition on August 15.

Held under this year’s theme, “IMAGINE LOVE,” the parade will once again transform Straße des 17. Juni into a vibrant celebration of electronic music, bringing together thousands of participants to advocate for peace, diversity, humanity, and greater recognition of electronic music culture’s contribution to society.

Rather than simply revisiting history, the documentary captures the ongoing transformation of a cultural movement into a modern nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and advancing techno’s values of unity and social connection.

Global Live Broadcast Planned for the 2026 Parade

For the first time, Rave The Planet will produce its own dedicated world feed, offering uninterrupted live coverage of the entire parade from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM CET across its official channels.

In addition, rbb will broadcast the event live on both the ARD streaming platform and rbb television, giving audiences worldwide the opportunity to experience one of electronic music’s most significant annual gatherings.

“IMAGINE LOVE” Anthem Receives New Remix Package

The official parade anthem, “IMAGINE LOVE,” created by Dr. Motte and Tommahawk, was released on July 10 alongside its official music video. The track transforms this year’s parade slogan into a powerful musical statement celebrating unity through dance music.

The anthem will receive several new interpretations throughout August:

  • August 7: Remixes by Juliet Fox and Mark Reeder & Micha Adam
  • August 28: Remix by Berlin techno duo Pan-Pot

Each version offers a fresh perspective while maintaining the spirit of this year’s message.

Official Afterparty Extends the Celebration

Following the conclusion of the parade, Rave The Planet has partnered with LOFT Concerts to present the first-ever official Rave The Planet Afterparty at Columbiahalle, beginning at 11:00 PM on August 15.

The lineup brings together respected names from across the global techno scene, including:

  • DJ Rush
  • Dr. Motte
  • Nakadia
  • Teenage Mutants
  • Tommahawk
  • Opening set by Kay Barton

Organizers have also developed a custom production experience for the anniversary celebration, featuring a specially designed lighting installation and a venue-specific sound system intended to extend the spirit of the parade well into the night.

With the release of Love Is Stronger: From Love Parade to Rave The Planet, the fifth Rave The Planet Parade, and a full slate of anniversary celebrations, 2026 stands as one of the most significant years in Berlin’s modern techno history. Together, they celebrate not only the legacy of Love Parade, but also the continued evolution of electronic music as a cultural force built on community, inclusion, and collective expression.
