Slow Joy has unveiled his latest single, “Forget,” via MDDN Records, offering another glimpse into the emotional landscape of his forthcoming sophomore album, Esteban Flores. The release arrives just ahead of his upcoming North American headlining trek, the I Love You So Much I Could Die Tour, while pre-orders for the album are now available through the project’s official store.

At the heart of “Forget” is a meditation on surrendering control and accepting life’s unpredictability. Reflecting on the song’s meaning, Esteban Flores explained:

“Forget is a song about giving in. I always felt like I had an idea of what life was like and how things were supposed to work. As I get older I realize nothing in life is certain. That’s a beautiful thing.”

Co-written by Esteban Flores and Josh Varnadore, whose credits include work with OneRepublic, David Guetta, and Gwen Stefani, “Forget” showcases the sonic duality that has become a hallmark of Slow Joy. Crushing walls of distortion collide with intimate, vulnerable passages, creating a powerful blend of emo, shoegaze, and alternative rock that highlights Flores’ introspective songwriting.

The single stands as one of the most emotionally charged moments from Esteban Flores, pairing soaring instrumentation with themes of uncertainty, acceptance, and personal growth. It continues a remarkable ascent for Flores, who originally launched Slow Joy as a creative outlet for processing grief and navigating periods of instability.

Since emerging onto the alternative scene, Flores has built a devoted following through a combination of brutally honest lyricism and explosive live performances. Fan favorites including “Soft Slam,” “Crawling,” and “SLC Punk on an SSRI,” along with his acclaimed debut album, A Joy So Slow At Times I Don’t Think It’s Coming, established him as one of alternative rock’s most compelling new voices.

Fans will soon have the opportunity to hear “Forget” live when Slow Joy launches the I Love You So Much I Could Die Tour. The 21-date North American run will feature support from Bike Routes, Glom, The High Curbs, and Growing Pains.

The tour includes stops in Austin, Phoenix, Denver, Toronto, Brooklyn, and Atlanta, before concluding on August 14 in Dallas.

With “Forget,” Slow Joy continues to refine a sound that is both expansive and deeply personal, offering a poignant reminder that uncertainty can be as transformative as it is unsettling. As anticipation builds for Esteban Flores, the new single suggests Flores is entering his most emotionally resonant chapter yet.
