Filipino-Australian artist daine returns with a fresh reimagining of their latest single, “PQC,” enlisting Berlin duo Bassvictim for a hypnotic new edit released via Pack. Records. The remix transforms the original electro-pop track into a minimalist, club-ready production that places daine’s emotive vocals at the forefront while introducing a cinematic new atmosphere.

Comprised of Maria Manow and Ike Clateman, Bassvictim strips away much of the original production, replacing it with understated dance rhythms that amplify the emotional weight of the song. The result is a spacious, immersive reinterpretation that balances melancholy with optimism.

Speaking about the remix, daine said:

“This remix breathes cinematic air into ‘PQC.’ It feels like childhood magic, but also the awkward pain and joy of your early twenties. It sounds like running through a meadow cathartically after losing your job or something. It sounds like friendship and forgiveness.”

The release follows widespread acclaim for the original version of “PQC,” which earned praise from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and Stereogum. The FADER described the track as “catchy as a children’s tune and as dancey as any electroclash banger.” Accompanied by a visually striking music video directed by Dylan Marriot, the single also signaled a creative shift for daine, embracing a more intimate and emotionally exposed sound while offering an early preview of their forthcoming debut album.

Over the past several years, daine has built a reputation for blending hyperpop, alternative pop, and experimental electronic music into a style that is both deeply personal and sonically adventurous. Initially gaining attention after receiving support from Charli XCX, the artist has continued refining their songwriting and vocal approach, creating music that balances raw vulnerability with bold, genre-fluid production.

Momentum accelerated following the release of the acclaimed 2025 EP, i want the light to swallow me whole, as well as daine’s appearance on Ninajirachi’s breakout album I Love My Computer. Their collaboration, “It’s You,” gained even greater traction after an underscores remix circulated widely online, introducing daine’s music to an expanding global audience.

The artist is set to continue that momentum with an Australian tour alongside Ninajirachi and Lucy Bedroque, kicking off in Sydney on July 3 before making stops in Brisbane, Adelaide, and Melbourne. Later this year, daine will also perform at both Pitchfork London and Pitchfork Paris, following previous European dates supporting yeule and collaborations with artists including Oli Sykes of Bring Me The Horizon, Ericdoa, 100 gecs, and Kreayshawn.
