Groove Cruise, the flagship event from Whet Travel and the world’s largest floating music festival, has unveiled the eight immersive theme parties that will define its sold-out 2027 voyage aboard Royal Caribbean‘s Allure of the Seas. Sailing from January 21-25, the event promises far more than a series of costume parties, transforming the four-day journey into an interactive celebration of music, creativity, self-expression, and community.
Designed around The Groove Effect, the 2027 themes align with the event’s eight guiding “Waves,” creating an experience that encourages Captains to embrace identity, curiosity, courage, purpose, and connection throughout the voyage. Rather than serving as standalone dress-up events, each theme contributes to a larger narrative that unfolds from embarkation to the final night at sea.
The announcement comes as Groove Cruise 2027 continues its remarkable momentum, selling out a record-breaking 11 months before departure. Now preparing for its 39th sailing, the festival has grown from an intimate gathering of just 125 friends into a global dance music phenomenon that has welcomed nearly 100,000 attendees over the years.

Adding another historic milestone, the 2027 edition will become the first private charter to take over Royal Beach Club on Paradise Island, Royal Caribbean‘s newest beachfront destination. Reserved exclusively for the #GCFAM, the experience will feature multiple pools, private beaches, local island cuisine, curated relaxation spaces, and the Floating Flamingo—the world’s largest swim-up bar—offering attendees an unforgettable blend of music and tropical escape.
Reflecting on the deeper meaning behind the themes, Jason Beukema, Founder and Chief Excitement Officer of Groove Cruise, explained:
“On Groove Cruise, themes have never been just about costumes. They’re permission slips. They give Captains a reason to play, connect, let go and step into parts of themselves they may not always access in everyday life. For GC27, every theme carries more intention through The Groove Effect and the 8 Waves, so the whole sailing becomes a journey. You arrive as yourself, you explore, you break patterns, you connect, and you leave with a ripple that keeps moving long after we’re back on land.”
The experience begins on Thursday, January 21, with Represent, inviting Captains to celebrate their hometowns, cultures, favorite sports teams, and personal identities while introducing Wave One: Gauge Your Frequency. Later that evening, Lost in Neverland transforms the ship into a whimsical fantasy filled with pirates, fairies, mermaids, and adventure, encouraging guests to embrace Wave Two: Ride Your Curiosity.
On Friday, the daytime celebration Naughty by Nature turns the ship into a vibrant jungle inspired by flowers, butterflies, lush greenery, and untamed beauty, symbolizing Wave Three: Overcome Your Comfort Zone. After sunset, Cartoons Gone Wild unleashes colorful animated characters and playful alter egos across the ship, celebrating authenticity through Wave Four: Own Your Groove.
Destination day on Saturday brings Flamingle, where vibrant tropical attire, flamingos, and bold pink fashion set the tone for the exclusive takeover of Royal Beach Club. Inspired by Wave Five: Vibe With Purpose, the daytime celebration blends island energy with intentional connection. That evening, the voyage launches into To The Moon, a futuristic celebration of astronauts, metallic fashion, extraterrestrial aesthetics, and cosmic imagination, embodying Wave Six: Embrace & Elevate.
The final full day aboard begins with Retro Splash & Sass, a nostalgic poolside party featuring vintage swimwear, neon ’80s fashion, and Y2K flair while highlighting Wave Seven: Spark A Ripple. The journey concludes with Cyberpunk Vice, a neon-lit celebration of futuristic streetwear, chrome, LEDs, and cyber-inspired fashion that represents Wave Eight: The Infinity, reinforcing the lasting impact of the friendships and memories created throughout the voyage.
These immersive experiences unfold alongside one of Groove Cruise‘s most diverse musical lineups to date. Leading the 2027 bill are Adam Beyer, BUNT., Disco Lines, KETTAMA, and Eli Brown, joined by an expansive roster that includes Andrew Bayer, CID, DJ Susan, Ely Oaks, Mitis, Sam Feldt, Tom Higgenson of Plain White T’s, Travis Clark of We The Kings, Trivecta, and many more spanning house, techno, trance, melodic, bass, and drum & bass.
Continuing its commitment to greater diversity within electronic music, Groove Cruise 2027 also features its strongest female artist representation yet, with women making up more than 35 percent of the lineup. Attendees can look forward to performances from Amy Wiles, Bella Renee, Jackie Hollander, Linney, Luci, Maxinne, me n ü, Nifra, Raecola, Sarah de Warren, Whipped Cream, and additional artists representing the global dance music community.

More than a music festival at sea, Groove Cruise has evolved into a community-driven experience built around participation, creativity, and belonging. With The Groove Effect serving as the foundation for its immersive programming, the 2027 sailing promises to deliver not only world-class performances but also meaningful shared experiences that continue long after the ship returns to port.
