This time, he’s joined forces with the legendary vocalist Sharlene Hector for the electrifying disco house track, “Back On My Love.”
Chaney, known for his nostalgic approach to dance music, channels the essence of disco, deep house, and early 2000s house anthems. After a successful run last year with vocal hits like “Out of My Depth” featuring Nu-La and “Feeling For You” with Farley, Chaney’s latest release continues his tradition of creating standout vocal-driven tracks.
“Back On My Love” marks a notable collaboration with Sharlene Hector, famed for her powerful vocals with Basement Jaxx. The track features a vibrant Italo bassline, coupled with Sharlene’s diva-like delivery, creating a dynamic and energetic dance floor anthem. Chaney reflects on the creation of the track, noting the significant impact it had during its early plays. “I’m thrilled to finally share my collaboration with Sharlene Hector on ‘Back On My Love.’ The idea took shape after Sharlene sent me a topline, and the track first made waves during my London set and at Nocturnal Wonderland in San Bernardino. The energy it brought to my performances was undeniable.”
The collaboration with Sharlene prompted Chaney to elevate his initial ideas, focusing on a disco-inspired sound that better suited her vocal style. “When I heard Sharlene’s vocals, I realized the original instrumental didn’t fully capture the sassy, diva essence that her delivery demanded. I revamped the track with a prominent disco drum groove and a fresh bassline, incorporating ‘70s and ‘80s Italo synths like the OBX and Juno 106.”
The resulting track, “Back On My Love,” is a testament to Chaney’s studio expertise and his ability to blend classic and contemporary elements. Sharlene Hector’s extensive career, which includes collaborations with Riva Starr, Armand Van Helden, Reel People, Alicia Keys, and Michael Bublé, adds a touch of timeless class to the record.
