Australian producer 44 Ardent makes a striking return with his powerful new single “Curtain Call”, out now via Mammal Sounds Records. The track—an intense, cinematic electronic journey—almost never saw release, having originally been created as a pitch for a film project that missed its deadline.
“This song began as a pitch for a film brief. I was chasing a big, dark, electronic chorus—a wall of sound with high impact,” explains 44 Ardent. “I wasn’t happy with it, so I missed the deadline and buried the demo on a hard drive, only to rediscover it months later.”
After revisiting the track, 44 Ardent found the core idea still resonated. With refined production, updated mixing, and a fresh perspective, “Curtain Call” emerged as a bold, immersive soundscape that blends brooding atmospheres with high-energy electronic flourishes.
“The core idea still sounded good to me, which is unusual. Often songs can sound much worse after some time away. It was very similar to the version you’re hearing now—just the mix was kinda terrible, so I gave it a solid tidy and here we are! It’s always great when you can bring an idea to life and let others hear it rather than let it sit forever on a drive,” he adds.
“Curtain Call” also marks the first preview of a fresh wave of music from 44 Ardent, who has been deep in the studio over recent months. With more releases on the horizon, the track sets the tone for an exciting new chapter in his evolving sound.
“Curtain Call” is available now on all streaming platforms via Mammal Sounds Records.
