1991 & Subsonic Drop Long-Awaited Rework of ‘Castles in the Sky’ on Armada Music

by Press Release

Due to overwhelming demand, drum and bass powerhouses 1991 and Subsonic have officially released their highly anticipated rework of Ian Van Dahl’s 1999 classic ‘Castles in the Sky’. Out today via Armada Music, the track follows months of dominating festival main stages, with massive support at Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrowland, and EDC Orlando 2024.

A Fresh Take on a Timeless Classic

Blending Martine Theeuwen (aka Marsha’s) iconic vocal line with a dreamy reinterpretation of the original melody, the duo infuses their signature drum and bass energy to create a modern anthem. Already championed by scene heavyweights like Sub Focus and Dimension, this electrifying remix is primed to become a staple in DJ sets for years to come.

1991 shared his excitement:
“Two years on and ‘Castles in the Sky’ is finally being released! This collab has taken various forms and has been played out countless times over the past couple of years, but it’s now ready to be put out into the world. We’re so happy you can finally listen to it in full.”

Subsonic added:
“I was introduced to ‘Castles In The Sky’ growing up through my parents—it’s one of their favorites from that era and, coincidentally, also one of mine. It’s so good to see our spin on it finally released to the world.”

1991’s Rise Continues

This release comes during an exciting chapter for 1991, who recently headlined an Australia tour alongside Culture Shock. Known for reimagining dance classics, his fresh take on ‘Castles in the Sky’ follows standout remixes of Supermode’s ‘Tell Me Why’ and Mason & Princess Superstar’s ‘Perfect (Exceeder)’—the latter played by Armin van Buuren at Ultra Miami 2024 and David Guetta at Tomorrowland.

As a member of the drum and bass supergroup WORSHIP, 1991 is also set to make history later this year as part of the first-ever drum and bass headliners at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

‘Castles in the Sky’ is out now on Armada Music.
