I’m ready to Hangout

by Jennifer Fall

One of my favorite festival experiences of all time was Hangout Fest. Maybe it was the music, maybe it was the beach, or perhaps a combination of both that still lends fond memories after several years. I have been anticipating a return to the beautiful area of Gulf Shores, Alabama, and after this lineup announcement, I have decided the time has come. You see, my mother and I are super close, and she has been itching to do a trip or festival with me for quite a while now. I can think of no better venue to take my beach loving mother to, than Gulf Shores Alabama for a weekend of sun, fun, and music that I know she will enjoy.

Foster the People were the catalyst for my first trip to Hangout, and it will be so nice to reunite with them on the beach. Portugal the Man has been making huge waves this year with “Feel it Still” and I can’t wait to see them in a festival atmosphere. In fact, they have alluded me several times. I have had to sell my tickets for two of their shows already, so I am NOT missing them this time! One of my absolute favorites, Odesza, be still my heart (I literally cried the last time I saw them). Seriously if you miss Odesza at Hangout I will find you and I will smack you. I’ll even make the trek to Red Rocks for their show this summer. Two magical venues for one magical band… I’ll take it!

This year Hangout has outdone themselves! The fest itself is so chill, yet so invigorating at the same time, and I for one am ready to feel those vibes again. One of the best parts of Hangout is that you can rent really affordable houses… right on the beach. You can walk to the festival, enjoy the time inside and keep the party going at your nightspot. Cabs are also very cost-effective, and they have a shuttle program that will get you back to your hotel or condo in no time to and from the festival.

I’m ready to have sand in my shoes, and salt in my hair. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m thinking its about time that we all hungout! See you on the beach!
