For the first time in more than a decade, Solomun is stepping outside of a personal rule that has defined his summers. On June 19, the influential DJ and producer will return to New York City to open Pacha New York, performing without a fee as a gesture of appreciation to the fans who stood by him during two unforgettable performances earlier this year.
Rather than offering tickets through a traditional sale, access to the opening night will be granted through a registration lottery exclusively for attendees of Solomun’s recent shows at Fulton Fish Market and Knockdown Center. Every eligible fan will have an equal chance to attend, regardless of how quickly they register or how much they are willing to spend.
The decision marks a significant departure from a routine that Solomun has carefully maintained for years. Since launching his legendary Solomun +1 residency at Pacha Ibiza in 2013, the Diynamic Music founder has largely avoided long-haul travel during the Ibiza season. Once summer begins, he traditionally remains in Europe, foregoing major international appearances and cross-continental flights in favor of a consistent schedule that has become part of his creative rhythm.
When discussions first began about the opening of Pacha New York, Solomun was interested but ultimately declined. The available date landed directly in the middle of his Ibiza commitments, making the trip seem impossible under the rules he had followed for more than ten years.
Everything changed after his recent appearance at Fulton Fish Market.
Thousands of fans gathered for the outdoor event despite relentless rain that lasted for hours. Rather than leaving, attendees stayed throughout the storm, dancing until the final track before many continued the experience at an extended afterparty at Knockdown Center. The dedication left a lasting impression on the artist.
“I held that rule for over ten years. I never questioned it,” Solomun said. “And then I watched thousands of people stand in the rain for hours without moving. After that, staying home was not an option anymore.”
The upcoming performance serves as both a thank-you and a symbolic continuation of the connection built during those marathon New York events.
“This isn’t about selling tickets,” he added. “It’s about thanking the people who were already there.”
The appearance also deepens Solomun’s long-standing relationship with Pacha, a partnership that has become one of the defining stories in modern house and techno culture. Through Solomun +1, he has helped shape one of Ibiza’s most celebrated residencies, hosting some of the biggest names in electronic music while cultivating a distinct musical identity that continues to influence dance floors worldwide.
The New York opening arrives during a landmark year for the artist. 2026 marks the 20th anniversary of Diynamic Music, a milestone celebrated alongside major sold-out performances, including two nights at Alexandra Palace in London. Recent releases include remixes of Nina Simone’s “Take Care Of Business” and Max Styler’s “One More,” as well as “Kinesphere,” his collaboration with Coco Nancy.
With a packed summer ahead and new music on the horizon, Solomun’s return to New York stands out as something more personal than a typical tour stop. It is a rare gesture from an artist known for staying true to his routines—a reminder that sometimes the strongest connections are built not on schedules, but on shared moments that refuse to be forgotten.
