Drawing inspiration from hardgroove, rave culture, and classic house music, “Club Checker” continues Ollie Lishman’s growing reputation for crafting club-focused records while introducing a dynamic new partnership with The Melody Men, whose songwriting and production credits span a wide range of house and electronic music releases.
The track combines rapid-fire MC-inspired vocal hooks with smooth vocal chops supplied by The Melody Men, creating a high-energy contrast that drives the record forward. “’Club Checker’ was made in Berlin last year just a couple hours before a DJ set — built as a functional club tool focused on deep groove and momentum. The idea was to strip things back and capture the raw feel of 90s house records. Written instinctively, the track channels its energy through rolling drums, deep-cut vocals, and a hypnotic groove. The name ‘Club Checker’ comes from its purpose: checking the dance floor and making sure it’s moving.”
Originally from Naarm/Melbourne and now based in Berlin, Ollie Lishman has quickly become one of the most exciting emerging names in contemporary club music.
