After a seven-year hiatus, Laidback Luke is back with Dim Mak Records, releasing the groundbreaking single “One on One,” which masterfully combines Big Room synths with Tech House drums.
Ushering in a new era, this track marks his first collaboration with his son, marlonbeats. “One on One” showcases Laidback Luke‘s signature anthemic production energy, a trait he has passed on to his son. The father-son duo delivers an unparalleled collaboration.
“This song is my birthday gift to my son marlonbeats for his 21st birthday. He is what you would call a ‘Daddy’s Boy,’ but due to my intense career and frequent traveling, he has missed me for most of his childhood. I’ve always tried to balance being a good dad with my DJ career, and it’s always been a juggling act. Interestingly, he started producing a few years ago and, while figuring it out on his own, soon realized his dad is a real producer. He also recently started DJing and is only now grasping why I was always gone,” Luke shares.
He continues, “This song embodies our time together—us having quality time, doing what we love most while reconnecting as father and son. The least I could do for his coming of age is to make a track together, and we are proud to present it to the world.”
