Trailblazing media brand SPIN is stepping into the electronic space with the debut of SPIN’s Dance Music Series, kicking off with a special performance from ZHU on Wednesday, May 6 at Sound Nightclub in Hollywood, CA. The one-night club experience also celebrates the release of SPIN’s limited-edition dance music mini-mag, featuring ZHU on the cover.
Known for consistently pushing the boundaries of electronic music and live performance, ZHU—born Steven Zhu—brings his immersive creative vision to the event through BLACK MIDAS, his latest album. Expanding on the conceptual world he introduced through his BLACKLIZT events, the performance invites fans into a fully realized atmosphere, encouraging an all-black dress code to match the project’s aesthetic. The set will spotlight tracks from BLACK MIDAS, including “5STARR,” “LEVELZZ,” and “BURN,” blending deep house and melodic techno into a cohesive, high-impact club experience.
In addition to the performance, attendees will receive the inaugural edition of SPIN’s dance-focused mini-mag. Each copy features integrated NFC (near field communication) technology, allowing fans to unlock an exclusive mix from ZHU with a simple tap—offering a seamless, tech-forward extension of the artist’s connection with his audience.
The event arrives during a period of renewed momentum for ZHU, who spent 2025 deepening his presence within the global dance music community. Building on the evolution of BLACKLIZT into BLACK MIDAS, he delivered standout sets alongside Mathame in Bogotá, deadmau5 at Coachella’s Quazar stage, and appearances across key markets including Nashville, New York City, and Lightning in a Bottle. Additional performances with Paul Kalkbrenner and Mahmut Orhan, along with headline shows at VW Arena in Istanbul and Drumsheds in London, further underscored his global reach.

In 2026, ZHU returned to Ultra Music Festival for the first time since 2017, unveiling a fully immersive BLACK MIDAS set featuring an “in the round” stage design surrounded by mannequins and dramatic live production elements. He has also made appearances at SXSW and completed tour dates across Australia and Alaska, with more ON THE MOVE performances scheduled worldwide throughout the year.
With the launch of SPIN’s Dance Music Series, the intersection of editorial storytelling, live performance, and immersive technology takes center stage—led by an artist who continues to redefine what electronic music experiences can look and feel like. Tickets for the May 6 event are available now.
