Electro-pop powerhouse Kiesza returns with her vibrant new single “When I’m Dancing,” the follow-up to her recent release “Good Morning America” featuring Kylie Minogue. Arriving alongside a lively, visually striking music video, the track sets the stage for the final installment of her trilogy, Dancing and Crying: Volume 3, due out May 8.

Inspired by her time living in New York City, “When I’m Dancing” captures the deeply personal ritual of finding release on the dancefloor. Built on hypnotic production and anchored by Kiesza’s polished, expressive vocals, the song reflects a universal truth—music as escape, movement as healing. The track’s emotional core is rooted in solitude, shaped by nights spent dancing alone as a way to process uncertainty and self-doubt.

Reflecting on the song, Kiesza shares, “I wish I could go back in time and tell my younger self how much there was to look forward to… everything she was afraid would break her would eventually shape her and lead somewhere beautiful.” She continues, “‘When I’m Dancing’ is about allowing your body to cry in ways that go beyond tears. Dancing has always been my crying, my refuge… in so many ways, dancing has saved my life.

The track also reflects a deeply collaborative creative journey. Initially developed by Jess Cake and Bradley Spence in the United Kingdom, the song evolved further during sessions in Toronto before being brought to life in an analog studio with Al-P. The process mirrors the emotional arc of the track itself—moving through pain, growth, and ultimately, renewal.

Visually, the “When I’m Dancing” music video expands on that narrative. Directed by Shiraz Higgins in Victoria, the video was filmed on the traditional and unceded territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən, W̱SÁNEĆ, and W̱SĺḴEM peoples, honoring Indigenous cultures through its setting and storytelling. Featuring bold costumes, vibrant visuals, and dynamic choreography, the video stands as a fully realized extension of Kiesza’s immersive artistic world.

Looking ahead, Kiesza will bring that same energy to the stage as she resumes her Dancing and Crying Tour on May 20 in Atlanta at Terminal West. The run will span 15 cities across the United States and Europe, with select dates featuring support from Rye Rye.

With “When I’m Dancing,” Kiesza delivers a deeply personal yet widely resonant anthem—one that bridges past and present while setting the tone for the final chapter of a trilogy rooted in vulnerability, movement, and emotional release.
