DENIAL Unleashes Raw, Distorted Techno Energy With “RAILS”

German-born producer DENIAL, the artist project of Daniel Weinand, returns with his latest single “RAILS,” arriving March 13 via Ex Communicado. Fusing heavy distortion, acid-laced textures, and a stripped-back spoken vocal, the track lands somewhere between warehouse techno and underground punk intensity.

Weinand’s path into electronic music has been anything but conventional. Classically trained as a pianist from an early age, he initially pursued a future in film composition. After being rejected from Hochschule der Künste Berlin following a rigorous entrance process, he pivoted to studying computer science while continuing to explore music theory independently. That duality—technical precision and creative instinct—now sits at the core of his sound.

Under the DENIAL moniker, Weinand has transitioned from classical foundations into darker sonic territory, pulling from techno, acid, industrial, and metal influences while preserving a distinct sense of melody and unconventional harmony.

“RAILS” came together with unusual immediacy. “Everything just fell into place,” says Weinand. “When I spoke with Sean Bravo, we agreed the track needed something filthy to match the heavy distortions. Underworld was an obvious reference point. Sean wrote the lyrics in one go and recorded everything in the first session. It was important to keep it raw. To me, this is as much a punk record as it is a techno track.”

That influence is evident without feeling derivative. The vocal sits front and center—direct, unpolished—cutting through distorted low-end pressure and driving percussion. Rather than refining the edges, DENIAL leans fully into saturation and grit, allowing texture to define the track’s identity.

His connection to electronic music traces back decades. Growing up in Germany, Weinand was immersed in what he and his friends called “Tekkno,” replaying tracks like “Das Boot” and sneaking into clubs at sixteen to experience “The First Rebirth” on full-scale systems. Later, attending Mayday Dortmund left a lasting imprint. His early involvement in the demo-scene era—working within strict technical limitations—instilled a discipline that continues to shape his production approach.

With RAILS,” DENIAL delivers a track built for dark rooms and uncompromising sound systems, where tension, texture, and raw energy take precedence over polish.
