Fresh off his first GRAMMY Awards appearance as a nominee alongside Davido for Best African Music Performance for “With You,” global Afro-fusion star Omah Lay has revealed the release date for his highly anticipated sophomore album, Clarity of Mind, arriving April 3.

To mark the announcement, Omah Lay launched an immersive, fan-driven rollout across Europe, hosting underground rave-style listening events in Berlin and Amsterdam. The Berlin gathering unfolded inside a cavernous warehouse where fans and partners heard music from the upcoming album for the first time in a raw, late-night setting designed to reflect the project’s emotional intensity.

Earlier that evening, Omah Lay hosted a private album playback at a restaurant before selecting around twenty fans to join him for a second, more intimate moment back at the warehouse. During the event, he unveiled a striking new look — shaving his hair and tattooing his head — while filming the album’s announcement trailer surrounded by the same fans who helped bring the moment to life.

The resulting visual captures the energy of the night: flashing lights illuminating an industrial space, music reverberating through the room, and a small circle of supporters witnessing a transformative chapter in real time. Several Berlin fans who attended the event appear directly in the trailer, blurring the line between audience and participant.

Last month, Omah Lay released the album’s lead single “DON’T LOVE ME,” a dark, seductive, and emotionally layered track that offers a powerful glimpse into the mindset shaping his next body of work. Floating over elastic basslines, shadowy synths, and hypnotic percussion, the song finds Omah Lay leaning into vulnerability and emotional detachment. Its striking refrain — “Don’t love me. Just make love.” — captures the tension between desire and self-protection at the heart of the record.

The accompanying music video amplifies this emotional complexity through a moody, cinematic lens. Set within a dreamlike world of shifting light, shadows, and sensual movement, the visual follows Omah Lay through intimate and surreal spaces where romance feels fleeting and unstable. Minimalist yet evocative, the film balances soft-focus imagery with symbolic choreography, reflecting the push and pull between closeness and distance.

“DON’T LOVE ME” builds on the momentum of Omah Lay’s recent breakout single “Waist,” which continues to resonate across playlists, radio, and digital platforms in Africa, the UK, and Europe. The song’s blend of spiritual reflection and romantic tension laid the foundation for the thematic direction of Clarity of Mind, while its Paris-shot visual further highlighted the artist’s growing interest in storytelling through imagery and atmosphere.

Prior to this creative run, Omah Lay released the fan-favorite single “Moving” in 2024, praised by The New York Times and later remixed by Francis Mercier. He has also continued expanding his sonic universe through collaborations with Tems, Myke Towers, SPINALL, Tyla, and Kehlani. His Boy Alone (Deluxe) project — featuring Ozuna on the remix of viral hit “soso” — has surpassed 600 million global streams, cementing his place among Africa’s most influential new-generation voices.

With Clarity of Mind, Omah Lay enters a new creative era defined by bold artistic risks, emotional transparency, and a deeper connection with the global community that has embraced his music.
